OLBERMANN SPECIAL COMMENTARY TONIGHT

      QuestionGirl     October 18th, 2006 - 8:59 pm

Olbermann is smoking hot…….. another great special commentary tonight.

We have lived as if in a trance.
We have lived as people in fear.
And now-our rights and our freedoms in peril-we slowly awake to learn that we have been afraid of the wrong thing.

Therefore, tonight have we truly become the inheritors of our American legacy.

For, on this first full day that the Military Commissions Act is in force, we now face what our ancestors faced, at other times of exaggerated crisis and melodramatic fear-mongering:

A government more dangerous to our liberty, than is the enemy it claims to protect us from.

We have been here before-and we have been here before led here-by men better and wiser and nobler than George W. Bush.

We have been here when President John Adams insisted that the Alien and Sedition Acts were necessary to save American lives, only to watch him use those acts to jail newspaper editors.

American newspaper editors, in American jails, for things they wrote about America.

What is a new home without new pets? I got these two the day I moved in Saturday to my new house. They are rescued kittens. If ever you have a chance to rescue an animal from a shelter or whatever, DO IT! It is so worth it.

UPDATE: 70 U.S. TROOPS KILLED IN IRAQ IN 18 DAYS

      QuestionGirl     October 18th, 2006 - 7:04 pm

But hey……let’s stay the friggin course, eh George? No reassessment needed here…… no sireeeee.

Associated Press Writer

BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) - Eleven more U.S. troops were slain in combat, the military said Wednesday, putting October on track to be the deadliest month for U.S. forces since the siege of Fallujah nearly two years ago.

The military says the sharp increase in U.S. casualties - 70 so far this month - is tied to Ramadan and a security crackdown that has left American forces more vulnerable to attack in Baghdad and its suburbs. Muslim tenets hold that fighting a foreign occupation force during Islam’s holy month puts a believer especially close to God.

CONRAD SAYS BUSH HAS SECRET PLAN TO WIN IN IRAQ

      QuestionGirl     October 18th, 2006 - 6:49 pm

Burns says Bush has a “secret plan” to win the war in Iraq. ha! Here’s something for you that’s no secret Conrad…..the man is a moron who refuses to admit failed policy! Here’s what your leadless fearer said today…..
GREENSBORO, United States (AFP) - The White House said that a steep spike in US deaths on Iraq, including 10 killed in a single day, would not lead to a reassessment of the US strategy there.
Oh, and here’s something else that’s not a secret Conrad…..you’re behind in the polls! People aren’t buying into your bullshit. The party is OVER for you.

Associated Press Writer

HELENA, Mont. (AP) - Sen. Conrad Burns says he believes President Bush has a plan to win the war in Iraq but is keeping it quiet, a statement Democrats pounced on Wednesday as reminiscent of comments made during another divisive war.

Burns, at a debate Tuesday night with Democratic challenger Jon Tester, said he believes Bush has a plan to win - but added: “we’re not going to tell you what our plan is.”

Burns, who has said repeatedly the country must stay in Iraq as long as it takes to win the war, also seemed to suggest a new path may be needed in Iraq. He pointed to fellow Republican Sen. John Warner of Virginia, who has recently called for a new strategy in Iraq.

“We have to change our tactics with the enemy and how it changes its tactics,” said Burns, a member of the Senate Appropriations defense subcommittee. “And in some cases, we have not been able to do that. I agree with Senator Warner and his assessment. If we don’t change, we will pay a heavier price. But we cannot lose it.”

NFL /NCAA WARNED OF POSSIBLE ATTACKS

      QuestionGirl     October 18th, 2006 - 5:57 pm

I gotta tell ya….. I am sooooooo sick of this shit. We’re fighting them over there so we don’t have to fight them here. Don’t vote for Democrats because they are soft on terror. Vote for Republicans because they are the ones keeping us safe here at home. Oh reaallllllllly……than where is this shit coming from? And if it’s not a real threat, which it appears it’s not……then why are they making cities and the NFL and colleges have to spend $$$$ to add extra security and why they scaring the bejeeesus out of people who might attend games? Are we going to hear more and more of these threats that they think really aren’t threats between now and November 7th? Afterall, they are the party of fear. Be afraid, be very afraid…… and vote for a Republican! UGH!!!!!

WASHINGTON - A Web site is claiming that seven NFL football stadiums will be hit with radiological dirty bombs this weekend, but the government on Wednesday expressed doubts about the threat.

The warning, posted Oct. 12, was part of an ongoing Internet conversation titled “New Attack on America Be Afraid.” It mentioned NFL stadiums in New York, Miami, Atlanta, Seattle, Houston, Oakland and Cleveland, where games are scheduled for this weekend.

The Homeland Security Department alerted authorities and stadium owners in those cities, as well as the NFL, of the Web message but said the threat was being viewed “with strong skepticism.” Officials at the NCAA, which oversees college athletics, said they too had been notified.

Homeland Security spokesman Russ Knocke said there was no intelligence that indicated such an attack was imminent, and he said the alert was “out of an abundance of caution.”

“The department strongly encourages the public to continue to go about their plans, including attending events that involve large public gatherings such as football games,” Knocke said.

The FBI also expressed doubt about the threat.

REPORT SPELLS OUT CUNNINGHAM ABUSES

      QuestionGirl     October 18th, 2006 - 4:55 pm
By MARK MAZZETTI
Published: October 18, 2006
WASHINGTON, Oct. 17 - Former Representative Randy Cunningham pressured and intimidated staff members of the House Intelligence Committee to help steer more than $70 million in classified federal business to favored military contractors, according to a Congressional investigation made public on Tuesday.

The investigation found that Mr. Cunningham, a California Republican who is serving an eight-year prison sentence for bribery, repeatedly abused his position on the committee to authorize money for military projects, often over the objections of staff members who criticized some of the spending as wasteful.

The inquiry also found that despite numerous “red flags” about the propriety of a particular contract for work on a controversial Pentagon counterintelligence program, committee staff members for three years “continued to accept and support Mr. Cunningham’s growing requests for this project.”

MARINES SENDING RESERVE COMBAT BATTALIONS BACK TO IRAQ

      QuestionGirl     October 18th, 2006 - 4:37 pm

Let’s hope we’re not there in 2008!

WASHINGTON (AP) - The Marines plan to send back to Iraq at least some reserve combat battalions that have already served one tour there, officials said Wednesday - the first time such units would be returned to the war.

The plan - designed to relieve some of the growing strain on active-duty Marines - was approved by Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld on Tuesday, according to Lt. Col. Scott Fazekas, a Marine spokesman.

The Army, which is organized differently than the Marine Corps, has not sent any of its National Guard combat brigades back to Iraq for a second tour, although it is considering making more use of the Guard. Both the Marines and Army have sent reserve support units and active-duty forces to Iraq multiple times.

The return of Marine Reserve combat battalions to Iraq would begin in 2008, according to a senior Marine officer who discussed the subject on condition he not be identified because no official announcement has been made. Thus, the first picked to go back probably would be remobilized next year to train for the mission.
