30 U.S. TROOPS KILLED IN 9 DAYS OF OCTOBER

BAGHDAD, Iraq Gunmen wearing military uniforms have killed the brother of Iraq’s Sunni Arab vice president.

General Amir al-Hashimi was killed today in his Baghdad home. He’s the third member of Vice President Tariq al-Hashimi’s family to be murdered in the last year.

The vice president’s sister and another brother also have been slain.

The targeting of families of prominent politicians has been widespread in Iraq in an apparent effort to intimidate politicians.
