FOLEY TO NAME MOLESTER
Ok… I am very blessed to have had a wonderful childhood….. no traumatic experiences with molesters or perverts. I know people who have not. I know people who have gone through years of therapy to get past their childhoods. My heart goes out to anyone who suffered at the hands of an abuser as a child. Having said that….. I really don’t give a rat’s ass who molested Foley when he was a kid. It doesn’t make what he did ok. It doesn’t change what he did. I don’t care if he’s an alcoholic, which I don’t believe. It doesn’t make what he did ok, and it doesn’t change what he did. This man disgusts me. As a gay politician, he never did anything to promote gay rights. He hid his gayness. All these years, he did not seek help for alcoholism or for the issues he has due to being molested as a child. He gets caught doing something he shouldn’t be doing……and now all the sudden we’re supposed to feel compassion for the man. Well sorry….. I don’t. He committed a heinous act……and he needs to pay for it. Period. He didn’t care to get help or share his sad story until he got caught. He could have sought help before. He didn’t. He could have helped others who have been abused. He pretended to care about kids…..and he didn’t. Instead he chose to prey on them. All that mattered was maintaining his seat in congress. It’s all that mattered to him…and it’s all that mattered to the others who ignored what he was doing. The teenage pages didn’t matter. Nothing mattered….until he got caught. I guess you could say, better late than never, as far as him getting help and outing a sicko priest. But….it doesn’t change anything HE DID. It doesn’t make it ok. He needs to pay. There need to be consequences for these rat bastards who hold office and abuse the power it gives them. Period.
Foley’s attorney:
“It’s going to be very clear in the coming days that it is a fact as opposed to any possible allegations that it was a fantasy or something made up for political purposes.”(AP) Disgraced former U.S. Congressman Mark Foley will reveal to the Archdiocese of Miami the name of the Roman Catholic clergyman he says abused him as a teenager, Foley’s civil attorney said Tuesday.
“We’ve also looked at the issue with regards to the state attorney’s office,” Gerald Richman said, but criminal charges cannot be filed because the statute of limitations on sexual assault expired long ago. Richman said Foley has not told him the name but has told another attorney. He said the clergyman is still alive.
