JILL METZGER SUPPOSED KIDNAPPING STILL A MYSTERY

      QuestionGirl     November 19th, 2006 - 9:45 pm

As far as I know, the Manas Air Force Base personnel are still confined to the base due to this supposed kidnapping.

The three-day disappearance of a Vance County native and U.S. Air Force major stationed in Kyrgyzstan ended happily when Jill Metzger turned up safe on Sept. 8.

But it’s not yet clear whether Metzger and her loved ones will live happily ever after following an experience a relative described as a traumatic, torture-filled kidnapping.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation and Air Force Office of Special Investigations are jointly looking into Metzger’s disappearance, which took place while she was on leave from Manas Air Force Base. The 33-year-old major told authorities that she was abducted from a popular department store in Bishkek shortly before she was scheduled to return home after a tour of duty at Manas.

SCARIEST CHART EVER

      QuestionGirl     November 19th, 2006 - 8:08 pm

This has to be the scariest chart ever since it shows the savings rate for Americans as a negative for the first time since the beginning of the 1900s. This is a snapshot of how our economy is doing. Why was this not part of every Democrat mailing and communication? This sure does not look like a blip in the road this looks like a complete turnaround of a huge economic indicator. the one showing how individuals are doing.

SAN JOSE COMPANY SAID TO PLAN ALLEGED CIA TERROR FLIGHTS

      QuestionGirl     November 19th, 2006 - 8:01 pm

(CBS 5) SAN JOSE You’ve heard about Abu Ghraib prison, Guantanamo Bay, and a
host of other places where torture is alleged to have happened. But you’ve
probably never heard that a company in downtown San Jose is said to have
helped the Central Intelligence Agency get prisoners to the alleged torture
sites.

The 16th floor of a gleaming tower on West Santa Clara Street is home to the
Jeppesen corporation’s International Trip and Flight Planning office.

But Charlotte Casey of South Bay Mobilization says they should be called the
travel agents of terror.

“I really felt ill, sick to my stomach, that this was happening in San
Jose,” Casey said.

Casey is responding to an investigation by The New Yorker magazine that said
Jeppesen regularly arranges what they call “spook flights” for the CIA.

Aboard Boeing 737 business jets were shackled and hooded passengers accused
of terrorism, The New Yorker reported in its Oct. 30 issue. They were
sometimes stripped nude and chained to the cabin floor, the magazine said.

Casey said the CIA calls it “extraordinary rendition.”

CIA FINDS NO EVIDENCE OF IRAN NUCLEAR WEAPON PROGRAM

      QuestionGirl     November 19th, 2006 - 6:10 pm

Well well well……..

A classified CIA report has found no firm evidence of a secret drive by Iran to develop nuclear weapons, despite White House allegations that such a plan might exist, a top US investigative reporter has said. Seymour Hersh’s report, to be published in the November 27 issue of The New Yorker magazine, drew a denial on Sunday from the White House, which called the report “riddled with inaccuracies.”

Hersh also reported on whether the Republican administration of President George W. Bush was more or less inclined to attack Iran after Democrats won control of Congress last week. Hersh cited a source close to Vice President Dick Cheney for the story.

“If the Democrats won on November 7th, the vice president said, that victory would not stop the administration from pursuing a military option with Iran,” Hersh wrote.

IRAN’S REQUEST FOR HELP WITH REACTOR PROMPTS DEBATE

      QuestionGirl     November 19th, 2006 - 5:07 pm
At a place called Arak in the desert southwest of Tehran, behind barbed wire and anti-aircraft guns, Iran is building a heavy-water nuclear reactor. The government says it will produce radioactive isotopes for medical treatments. As an unavoidable byproduct, it will also make plutonium, one of the primary fuels for atom bombs.

At the International Atomic Energy Agency, inspectors are trying to make sure that Tehran never uses its nuclear infrastructure to make weapons. Indeed, for just that reason, the agency’s board has repeatedly called on the Iranians to abandon Arak. Yet when the board meets this week in Vienna, it will consider an Iranian request for technical help in safely completing the reactor, which is to go on line as soon as 2009.

Rep. Rangel (D-N.Y.) WILL SEEK TO REINSTATE DRAFT

      QuestionGirl     November 19th, 2006 - 5:02 pm

I’m with Charlie on this one…….

By JOHN HEILPRIN

WASHINGTON Nov 19, 2006 (AP)- Americans would have to sign up for a new military draft after turning 18 if the incoming chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee has his way.

Rep. Charles Rangel, D-N.Y., said Sunday he sees his idea as a way to deter politicians from launching wars and to bolster U.S. troop levels insufficient to cover potential future action in Iran, North Korea and Iraq.

“There’s no question in my mind that this president and this administration would never have invaded Iraq, especially on the flimsy evidence that was presented to the Congress, if indeed we had a draft and members of Congress and the administration thought that their kids from their communities would be placed in harm’s way,” Rangel said.
