90 Year Old Sex Offender Says System is Unfair

      QuestionGirl     November 20th, 2006 - 10:41 am

MARLBORO- Ninety-year-old Wesley Fay Wetherell Sr., a Level 3 sex offender who lives in a prison-cell’sized room at the Lincoln Street Inn, is closely watching a local law that could run him and other convicted child predators out of Marlboro.

The partially blind grandfather, who grew up in Hudson, said he doesn-t know the source of his perversion toward little girls. But the crimes for which he has been convicted, he said, were not vicious enough to warrant him having to uproot and move to another community.

“I think they-re pushing the sex offenders too hard,” Mr. Wetherell said in a recent telephone interview. “They-re making all of them look like the bad people who kill young girls or something. I think we-re all being judged the same way.”

I really think they-re treating us unfair. A little bit of this trouble is on the parents of the children for not teaching them to watch out for strangers.

Say Waaaa??? Let’s lock this guy up and throw away the key, please!!

Go Big, Go Long or Go Home

      QuestionGirl     November 20th, 2006 - 10:25 am

I vote Go Home. Where do you suppose they’re going to come up with 29-30,000 more troops? And what do you think the outcome of that strategy will be? Of course they’d choose Go Long, because they’re not done raping the American taxpayers yet, or killing their kids. And where’s the friggin Baker report? Just askin….

From the Washington Post article:

The group has devised a hybrid plan that combines part of the first option with the second one — “Go Long” — and calls for cutting the U.S. combat presence in favor of a long-term expansion of the training and advisory efforts. Under this mixture of options, which is gaining favor inside the military, the U.S. presence in Iraq, currently about 140,000 troops, would be boosted by 20,000 to 30,000 for a short period, the officials said.

The purpose of the temporary but notable increase, they said, would be twofold: To do as much as possible to curtail sectarian violence, and also to signal to the Iraqi government and public that the shift to a “Go Long” option that aims to eventually cut the U.S. presence is not a disguised form of withdrawal.

ARMY MANUAL DUMPS “RUMSFELD’S DOCTRINE”

      QuestionGirl     November 20th, 2006 - 10:18 am

FT. LEAVENWORTH, KAN. - Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld may be leaving under a cloud of criticism over his handling of the Iraq war, but his invasion plan - emphasizing speed over massive troop numbers - has consistently been held up as a resounding success.

Yet with Iraq near chaos 3 1/2 years later, a key Army manual now is being rewritten in a way that rejects the Rumsfeld doctrine and counsels against using it again.

The draft version of the Army’s Full Spectrum Operations field manual argues that in addition to defeating the enemy, military units must focus on providing security for the population - even during major combat.

Chertoff Says U.S. Threatened by International Law

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A top Bush administration official on Friday said the European Union, the United Nations and other international entities increasingly are using international law to challenge U.S. powers to reject treaties and protect itself from attack.

“International law is being used as a rhetorical weapon against us,” Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff, a former federal appellate judge, said in a speech to the Federalist Society, a conservative policy group.

Chertoff cited members of the European Parliament in particular as harboring an “increasingly activist, left-wing and even elitist philosophy of law” at odds with American practices and interests.

WANT TO PISS OFF YOUR NEIGHBORS? PUT UP 250,000 XMAS LIGHTS

I’d enjoy it myself…..

Some people have big houses. And some people like celebrating Christmas. And then there is Dominic Luberto.

A year ago, Luberto bought one of the largest single-family homes in Boston. It has 11 fireplaces, stone turrets, long red velvet drapes, and furniture imported from Italy. Set on a can’t-miss spot on the Arborway, it is one of the jewels in Frederick Law Olmsted’s Emerald Necklace of roads and parks surrounding Jamaica Pond.

Last month — a full 72 days before Christmas — Luberto began covering the exterior of the 8,500’square-foot house with [tag]Christmas lights[/tag]. He says he has spent $10,000 on lights alone, a purchase that he hopes will cause people “throughout the city, throughout Massachusetts” to take note.

SADNESS AND JOY

      QuestionGirl     November 20th, 2006 - 7:44 am

RIP JEFFREY TOCZYLOWSKI!

Before he died in Iraq, ‘Toz’ had an order for his Green Berets: Attend my Arlington burial, then take this $100,000 for a party in Las Vegas.

SHORTLY after Jeffrey “Toz” Toczylowski’s last mission in Iraq a year ago this month, friends received a message.

“If you are getting this e-mail, it means that I have passed away,” the missive said. “No, it’s not a sick Toz joke, but a letter I wanted to write in case this happened.”

The Army Special Forces captain, 30, said he would like family and friends to attend his burial at Arlington National Cemetery, “but understand if you can’t make it.” The message, distributed by a fellow Green Beret after Toczylowski’s family had been notified of his death, added this: “There will also be a party in Vegas with a 100k to help pay for travel, room and a party.”

Last Saturday afternoon, Jeffrey’s mother, Peggy, hustled about Las Vegas’ Palms Hotel and Casino, making final arrangements for a bash that drew family and childhood friends from her son’s hometown in suburban Pennsylvania, young men and women from his days at Texas A&M, and comrades in arms who had bonded with “Toz” on missions they could not discuss with civilians.

BIG OIL, MEET YOUR NEW CONGRESS

      QuestionGirl     November 20th, 2006 - 7:29 am

Let’s hope there’s some changes here. I feel like a kid who was promised that on Friday when my Dad gets paid, I get to go and buy new toys. Oh the anticipation…..the anxiety….the thoughts of what could be. Will it really happen, or will my Mom bug out on me at the last minute….telling me she’s too busy and we’ll go next week. January can’t get here soon enough!!! Will promises be kept? Will things change?

NEW YORK — So far this year, 40 bills have been introduced in Congress about alleged gasoline price gouging. Twenty-one bills have addressed windfall profits by oil companies. Few have gotten past the press-release stage.

But next year, Big Oil is likely to feel as if it’s wearing one of those “kick me” signs.

The Democratic leadership has already indicated it will try to repeal earlier tax breaks for oil companies. A gusher of new legislation could develop as well, as Democrats get a chance to see their energy bills move past the trash can. In fact, the Democrats will try to put together their own version of a comprehensive energy bill that tackles everything from gas-mileage standards to tax breaks for alternative energy sources, some congressional analysts believe.

Gasoline prices up, end 3 month slump

BlueHerald ImageThe average price of a gallon of gasoline rose 5 cents, according to survey of 5,000 gas stations.

CAMARILLO, Calif. (CNN) — Gasoline prices at U.S. pumps rose an average of a nickel a gallon over the last two weeks, ending three months of falling prices, according to a national survey released Sunday.

Gas prices had fallen 84 cents in the previous 12 weeks, [publisher Trilby] Lundberg said. The previous survey, taken on Nov. 3, showed the average at $2.18, she said.

She added that she expects little pump price changes in the near term, unless the mild weather turns severe, causing a spike in heating oil prices. That spike would also increase all petroleum prices, Lundberg said.

Another factor that could cause gas prices to rise in coming months would be a strong adherence by OPEC countries to their pledge to cut world crude oil production by 1.2 million barrels a day or another decision to reduce production when OPEC meets again next month, Lundberg said.

Article

I live in a predominately republican part of the country. To ask the folks around here about gas prices, THEY will tell you it’s election related; to help make the republicans look good during the election, then climb back up afterwards. Proving this theory is darn-near impossible, but only a fool would find it laughable.
