While surfing the internet, reading through blogs, one often-times find comments that deserve to be spotlighted. The following is a to-the-point, excellent read.

December 7th, 2006 at 11:10 pmBush’s Legacy - The President Who Destroyed a Country - Maybe Two
Country Number 1 - Iraq
Country Number 2 - three guess and the first two don-t count.I listened with extreme frustration as a sound bite was played last night showing Hilary Clinton questioning Baker and Hamilton. What she was asking was what can they (Congress) do/ask to get the Administration to comply, accept and expedite the recommendation in the report.
I-ll tell her what Congress can do. They can all sign a petition and tell the President that if he doesn-t quickly develop a plan (say 15 to 30 days) to withdraw from Iraq that he leaves them no alternative but to impeach him for the crimes he has committed while in office.
Which brings me to another topic that really fries my butt? (Was there a segue there) All the politicians, the media and political pundits still have the “V” word in their vocabulary when they talk about Iraq like its some viable alternative. Like it’s something we can actually accomplish. Dianne Feinstein used it on Hardball, Pat Buchanan used it on Scarboro Country. I like Pat Buchanan but what he had to say the other night was just plain sad. Like some over-the-hill boxer trying to prove that he still has it and can win. Rocky only exists in the movies.
All these people, the politicians, pundits and the media still have a fantasy that we can come away from Iraq and spin our accomplishments there as some sort of victory. First and foremost I hold the media responsible for not writing about the obvious, although, it’s interesting that with the protection of the mid-terms some are coming out of the closet. Secondly, I hold our politicians, mainly republicans, responsible for not speaking out and providing the appropriate checks and balances, regardless of the political ramifications and finally I hold the administration responsible for intentionally lying to us and getting our country into a war of passion that we can-t win.
Folks we LOST - They kicked and continue to kick our ever-lovin American butt. We didn-t lose the war that uses guns and tanks; we won that one, and did it in record time. Actually we gave the Iraqi army a shellacking. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!
What we lost was the war of ideology and passion. Our army hasn-t been trained to fight a war of that nature. The only ones who can win that war are the individuals with the most passion. And to have that passion, “ya gotta wanna” in your gut.
We had the passion when we fought our own ideological wars over the past 200 years. But it doesn-t work when you try and fight the other guy’s war (Vietnam, Bosnia). You can assist but you can-t fight it. You just don-t have the passion. Just listen to the Rod Stewart song. It is telling.
And finally I-d like to comment on all the commentary that is currently being discussed, again by the politicians, the political pendants and the media. We keep dissecting all the peripheral topics surrounding Iraq, like the difference between the Iraqi factions, can George Bush change his thinking, is it a civil war, can this happen, can that happen, etc. Does it matter at this point in time.
Quick Aside: It seems to me that if the justification for this invasion was based on a lie, then how can the dialogue, about the actions that continue under false pretenses, be construed to hold merit, other than an apology and a plan to correct the original lie.
Threaten to impeach him and I believe plans will be developed quickly. And if they-re not, then put someone in there that will “change the course”.
People are dying because of someone’s ego. We are spending billions because of someone’s ego and we are destroying our country because of someone’s ego. It’s time to change the course George, and give your ego a rest. Pride is the biggest character defect of an alcoholic. You need to do a fourth step.
