It’s really a damn shame though. He is a good man. And would have made a great leader. After being swiftboated during his 2004 campaign and failing to answer the Republican criticisms leveled at him, Kerry lost much of his political support.
I wonder why Kerry didn’t attempt legal action against those involved in his swiftboating? These ‘critics’ used false information to cause Kerry to lose his presidential bid. Looks like an open and shut case. Am I wrong?

Kerry to bow out of presidential race
WASHINGTON - Sen. John Kerry of Massachusetts, the Democrats’ losing presidential candidate in 2004, does not intend to run again in 2008, a Democratic official said Wednesday.

…
In a CNN/ORC poll released Wednesday, 51 percent of Democrats said they would not like to see Kerry run in 2008. When asked who they would support, only 5 percent said Kerry, placing him fifth and far behind leader Clinton at 33 percent.

Sept. 11 cop dies just as his son faces Bush
Son, as Clinton’s State of Union guest, symbolized 9/11 worker health woes
WASHINGTON - A former New York policeman died in a Manhattan hospital, just as his 21-year-old son prepared to appear at the State of the Union speech to symbolize the desperate health problems of some Sept. 11 workers.
Cesar Borja, 52, had been in intensive care, breathing through a tube, at Mount Sinai Medical Center, awaiting a lung transplant.
His son, college student Ceasar Borja Jr., was invited by Democratic Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, to attend President George W. Bush’s speech as a reminder to the president of workers who were stricken with a host of illnesses after exposure to toxic World Trade Center debris.
The younger Borja learned of his father’s death in a phone call while eating dinner around 6:30 p.m. He still planned to attend the speech.
…
“9/11 is not over. It didn-t end in 2001. It is still affecting my father and numerous other first responders,” he said. “My father is an extreme example of what can happen and what may and will happen in the future.”
Clinton and other New York lawmakers have been urging the government for years to pay for treating Sept. 11-related illnesses.

I want to see this guy go down. Bad.
AUSTIN, Texas - The prosecution of former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay could be stalled for weeks or even months while Texas’ highest criminal court decides whether a dismissed campaign finance conspiracy charge against him should be reinstated.
The Texas Court of Criminal Appeals is set to hear arguments Wednesday on the conspiracy charge - part of the criminal case that helped drive DeLay from office.
Prosecutors want the charge reinstated, but attorneys for DeLay and two co-defendants contend a lower appellate court correctly ruled that the law was not in effect when the alleged conspiracy occurred in 2002.
DeLay’s trial on remaining felony conspiracy and money laundering charges must wait until the state’s highest criminal court rules, which could be weeks or months after Wednesday’s hearing.
DeLay, who resigned his seat in Congress last summer, wants to get the criminal case behind him, said his attorney, Dick DeGuerin. DeLay is not expected to attend the hearing.
DeGuerin said the prosecution’s appeal of the dismissed conspiracy charge allowed them to put off DeLay’s trial and hurt him as he tried to regain his leadership post and fight off election challengers.

‘LET US WORK TOGETHER’

I’m somewhat surprised by Bush’s SOTU last night. I went into it thinking it was just going to be “more of the same”. Well, it WAS just more of the same. But, he was so darn nice to Nancy Pelosi. And he showed a renewed level of confidence. I’m ready to give him another chance. So what if 5, 10, 15+ of our troops die in Iraq on a daily basis? Bush gave a really good speech. Were you not paying attention? He clearly stated that, as long as Democrats caved in to all of his demands and stopped whining… that he’d make an attempt at working with them. That’s more than fair!
If that didn’t convince you to jump on the Bush wagon, then maybe this will: Nancy Pelosi is rich. And she buys expensive clothes too!! She’s so unlike everyone else in that grand chamber last night. You gotta hate her (and love Bush!).
addendum:
Bush could have taken a piss on the American flag last night and these numbers still wouldn’t budge.
