The most favored one, and the one that makes the most sense, is that she left the base to get an abortion. When all is said and done, if she lied about being kidnapped, she should be discharged. An Air Force office recently released a statement about Maj. Jill Metzger, the former Vance resident who disappeared in Kyrgyzstan for three days in September, but it did not reveal new information about the mysterious incident.

American officials, Metzger and her family have been largely unwilling to discuss the case since the major returned to the United States. Even while Metzger was still missing, Kyrgyzstan authorities questioned whether she had been kidnapped, as alleged.

She knocked on the door of a rural farmhouse three days after vanishing from a popular department store in Bishkek while on leave. The officer said she had been abducted.
