Independent Senator Lieberman deservedly gets heckled at Senate Cmte. Hearing on hurricane recovery in NOLA. Lieberman, as head of the committee, decided there would be no investigation into the Bush administration’s handling (or lack thereof) of the Katrina disaster. Unfortunately, CNN decides to talk over the whole thing so you can’t hear the brave man yelling and fighting.

NEW ORLEANS: Almost a week after U.S. President George W. Bush drew criticism for failing to mention the Hurricane Katrina-battered Gulf Coast in his State of the Union speech, the man in charge of the U.S. recovery effort said Bush is determined to rebuild the region.
“President Bush is committed to rebuilding the Gulf Coast and rebuilding it stronger and better than it was before hurricanes Katrina and Rita,” Donald Powell, Bush’s coordinator for Gulf Coast rebuilding, said Monday. He added it will take a “long time” to finish the job.
Powell and other officials were testifying before a Senate committee looking into the U.S. government’s hurricane response.
“I hope we get some answers to the questions today because rebuilding the city of New Orleans is not just good for the Gulf Coast or the state of Louisiana, it’s good for our nation,” Democratic Senator Barack Obama said.
The visit by Obama, who is expected to formally announce his candidacy for president next month, comes about a month after another 2008 presidential contender, former Democratic senator John Edwards, started his campaign in New Orleans.
