Paying The High Price Of Bush’s Iraq

It’s not enough to live everyday with the thought of all the ultimate sacrifices that so many of our young (and their parents) have given for the sake of this illegal, immoral war. It’s not enough to know that so many in our armed services are being forced to serve double and triple duty in Iraq, keeping them from their home and loved ones, just to keep troop deployment numbers high. It’s not enough to realize so many will be coming back from Iraq injured and maimed, and will be forced to recuperate in such places as Walter Reed, (that is if they don’t wind up out on the street, homeless and ignored!), just so Limbaugh/Coulter can have more talking points, Cheney/Halliburton can continue profiting from the oil and missing taxpayer money, and Bush/Rove can continue to appease that uneducated thirty’something-percent.

Now we find that the party of “a strong, readied, and extremely (overly) financed military” are ready and willing to sacrifice America’s protection and security to continue on with this wasteful and unjust war. Our military might has been severely weakened with Bush’s war. And, if never before, NOW is the time to rein in this sociopath!

U.S. military ill-prepared for other conflicts

Officials cite ’stark’ shortage of equipment, growing gaps in training

Four years after the invasion of Iraq, the high and growing demand for U.S. troops there and in Afghanistan has left ground forces in the United States short of the training, personnel and equipment that would be vital to fight a major ground conflict elsewhere, senior U.S. military and government officials acknowledge.

More troubling, the officials say, is that it will take years for the Army and Marine Corps to recover from what some officials privately have called a “death spiral,” in which the ever more rapid pace of war-zone rotations has consumed 40 percent of their total gear, wearied troops and left no time to train to fight anything other than the insurgencies now at hand.
