Illinois Ex-Governor Stripped of Pension

And well he should be. Any civil servant who is convicted of corruption should NOT receive a pension. The Democrats finally fixed that in the federal government, but not before Duke Cunningham got his…….. dang it!!

From the AP

CHICAGO (AP) — A judge upheld a state board’s decision to strip former Gov. George Ryan of his entire $197,000-a-year pension because of his conviction last year on federal racketeering charges.

Ryan filed a lawsuit in December seeking to at least keep the portion of his pension earned before he became secretary of state in the 1990s, when the scandals began that led to his conviction.

His attorneys maintained he should get about $65,000 a year - the share earned when he was a county board member, state representative and lieutenant governor.

Cook County Circuit Judge Martin Agran rejected that argument Thursday and upheld a pension board’s unanimous vote to strip Ryan of the entire pension.
