CEO’s Headline GOP Presidential Donor Lists
by QuestionGirl • 1:00 pm

From Yahoo:

The ranks of donors giving money to Republican presidential candidates are a little low on the celebrity meter. Unlike the Democrats, whose ties to the entertainment community are well-known, the recently filed lists of GOP contributors has relatively few names familiar from the stage and screen.

But the candidates seeking the nomination of the Republican Party, which is known for its ties to the nation’s business community, have attracted numerous donations from familiar names in corporate boardrooms and chief executive officers- offices.

This is evident in CQPolitics.com’s detailed analysis, presented below, of the Republican presidential candidates- campaign finance reports for the second quarter of the year, which were filed by a July 15 deadline. CQPolitics.com on Thursday performed a similar analysis of the Democratic presidential hopefuls- contribution lists.

The following profiles list the top-line second-quarter fundraising figures for nine Republican candidates, presented alphabetically by last name, and identify some prominent donors to each of the candidates. If a donor also gave to the named candidate in the first quarter of this year, the cumulative contribution is noted in parentheses.

An individual donor can give a maximum of $4,600 to a presidential candidate, who can use $2,300 for the nominating campaign of primaries and caucuses and the other $2,300 for a possible general election campaign. The capsule descriptions below note how much money each candidate has raised and has left to spend for the primary elections.

Not included in this roundup are former Virginia Gov. James S. Gilmore III, who raised little money and who terminated his campaign July 14, and Illinois lawyer John Cox, who is funding his longshot campaign primarily from his own pockets.
