Yep. We’re in this war for a looong time to come. Fred Thompson: The Right’s White KnightBuck October 22nd, 2007 - 7:46 pmFred Thompson, while being asked about the Terri Schiavo case, stated today that he was uncomfortable discussing it because of his own daughter’s death. I am a little bit uncomfortable about that because it’s an intensely personal thing. These things need to be decided by the family, and I was at that bedside, and I had to make those decisions with the rest of my family.

For bringing up this personal info, Fred will surely find himself up shit creek without a paddle now! (or will he?) I will assure you one thing, no matter which decision you make, you will never know whether or not you made exactly the right decision. So making this into a political football is something that I don’t welcome. And this will probably be the last time I ever address it. … It should be decided by families. The federal government and the state government, too - except for the court system - ought to stay out of it, as far as I’m concerned.

Fred, you state it should be something decided by families and that you’re against making a political football out of it. Then you turn around and say you don’t mind the federal and state governments sticking their noses in. Which is it? Maybe the point you were trying to get across is that you want government to stay out of YOUR business, but you have no qualms about them sticking their noses into everyone else’s. Is that it? Bush to Congress: Mo MoneyBuck October 22nd, 2007 - 7:17 pmOur men and women on the front lines should not be caught in the middle of partisan disagreements in Washington. … I know some in Congress are against the war and are seeking ways to demonstrate that opposition. I recognize their position and they should make their views heard. … But they ought to make sure our troops have what it takes to succeed. … Congress should not go home for the holidays while our troops are still waiting for the funds they need.
President Bush, on funding the Iraq war
Congress has clearly made their views heard, along with those of the American majority. But it’s been to no avail, as it will continue to be so. He’ll get his money. And Mrs. “Democratic-plan-for-responsible-redeployment-of-our-troops” Pelosi, we’ve been onto your game for a while now. Tell it to someone that still believes in you.
Non-Combat Deaths in IraqQuestionGirl October 22nd, 2007 - 5:40 pmI’ve written before about the non-combat deaths in Iraq. At the time I was wondering what happened to Major Gloria D. Davis, who was found dead. We have since learned that she was involved in ( or so they say) the contractor fraud scandal. While checking to see the latest on that case today, I ran across this article by Frank Rich, which ran in the New York Times yesterday. It seems Charles D. Riechers, 47, the second-highest-ranking procurement officer in the United States Air Force - killed himself by running his car’s engine in his suburban Virginia garage, two weeks after his appearance in a front-page exposé about the contractor fraud in The Washington Post. So I guess this explains SOME of the non-combat deaths. Now the U.S. army has sent safety experts to Iraq to study the non-combat deaths, and why they are on the rise. There have been 9 already this month. There were 29 in August and 23 in September. That’s alot of unexplained deaths. It will be interesting to see what this study comes up with. I wonder how many of the accidental deaths are due to fatigue, mental stress, and our soldiers being there too damn long. We don’t know yet the full effect that extended tours are having on our troops. I’m guessing we won’t hear about it if that’s the case. 4 out of the 10 deaths reported by the Pentagon last week were non-combat related. One of the four was a vehicle rollover. There seems to be alot of those, too. Do our soldiers not know how to drive or what? If they rolled over to avoid an attack or during an attack, that would be reported, no? So many of them are just reported as accidents. What’s up with that? Anyway, this is something I think about. Losing so many young men and women…..and so many of them not even combat related. The point is, if we weren’t there….they wouldn’t be dying there. Maybe if they want to cut down the non-combat deaths in Iraq we should just get the hell out of Iraq! In the sermon he told of a vision he had. In the vision he saw Iran as an obstacle to peace in the Middle East and said the world could not stand by and allow it to develop a nuclear weapon. I say Dick Cheney’s big mouth is an obstacle to peace. So STFU Dick.
I missed the interview on 60 Minutes with Valerie Plame. The only thing that would make my boyfriend miss that interview…..football. He thinks (wishes) she would do a Playboy spread. Men…..can’t live with em, can’t shoot em. At any rate, I hope her book,Fair Game There’s been some questions about Hong Kong Hillary’s campaign contributions. Seems the poor Chinese in New York’s Chinatown are very found of Hill. And that’s all I have to say about that. Last, but not least…..maybe the best candidate to come along!! |
