Let The Impeachment Of Dick Cheney Begin!

      Buck     November 6th, 2007 - 6:01 pm

BREAKING:

[VP Dick Cheney] purposely altered intelligence gathering to justify the use of the Armed Forces in Iraq in a manner damaging to national security. The vice president also is accused of using the intelligence process to deceive citizens and Congress about the tie between Iraq and Al Qaeda in a manner damaging to the United States.

-2008 presidential candidate, Rep. Dennis Kucinich

Dennis KucinichKucinich made a procedural maneuver to bring up his resolution on impeachment articles against Vice President Dick Cheney moments ago. House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer tried to kill the resolution. But republicans, who at first also wanted to kill the resolution, changed tactics and began voting against Hoyer. Hoyer’s motion lost on a 162-251 vote.

Something about this smells funny. Top democrats voted against the articles of impeachment, while republicans voted for it. Why? Am I missing something?

From the article:

Bringing a vote on the impeachment resolution would put Democrats on record over impeachment, a move that Republicans see as a political advantage in a year that has been marked by little progress in a Democrat-led Congress, even as they vowed to rise above partisanship.

How the hell could republicans see this as a political advantage? Don’t the majority want us out of this war? Don’t the majority see Bush and Cheney as the crooks they really are?

  2. mirth Says:

    I’m wid you, Buck. WTF?

Logically: Reps must know it will fail, so without risking anything, voting for a Cheney impeachment might give them some street cred with the homefolks (Cheney loathing isn’t limited to Dems).

But this vote was only opposed to Hoyer’s block of Kucinich’s resolution.

    So….

    My head hurts.

It’s headed to the Judiciary Comm. where Flip-Flopper chairman Conyers will bury it. He has already said as much.

  4. QuestionGirl Says:

Fuckers….. I think it’s such a crying shame that Kucinich is the only politician in Washington with the people’s and the country’s interest at heart. Fuck Conyers. His mouth flapped pretty good before the Dems had the majority….. and he was told to shut the fuck up by Pelosi and the rest of the fucktards. I’m so sick of all of them I can’t stand it.

  5. Batocchio Says:

Well, the Republicans aren’t nearly as smart as they think they are.

In this case, their chances of winning the White House are currently slim. Most likely, they’re hoping to energize their base and hoping for some backlash from other folks. They’ll get idiots like Broder on their side, but the majority of Americans really don’t like Bush. Anyone got the latest poll numbers on impeachment specifically?

    POLL: InsiderAdvantage Bush/Cheney Impeachment

A new InsiderAdvantage/Majority Opinion national survey of 621 registered voters (conducted 5/4 through 5/6) finds 39% of Americans favor the impeachment of President Bush and Vice President Cheney; 54% do not.

    Sheeple…

    Here’s something for ya…………..

The Senate has the sole power to try impeachments. The Vice President is the President of the Senate. He presides. The Constitution provides for only one exception in cases of impeachment: “When the President of the United States is tried, the Chief Justice shall preside.” That’s because of the obvious conflict-of-interest of having the VP preside when the President is tried. But there’s no similar provision for having someone else preside if the Vice President is impeached.

  8. Buck Says:

Chief Justice, huh?.. John Roberts. Bush ain’t as stupid as he’s been made out to be.

Maybe they can get ‘Fredo’ Gonzales, Brit Hume or Rush Limbaugh to preside over Cheney’s trial.

  9. Bro Says:

The democraps were just showing what idiots they are. The republicans changed their votes so the crapers would take the blame for killing the bill by one of their own, Conyers.
