So much for a democratic Iraq.

WASHINGTON - Two Republican senators said that unless Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki makes more political progress by January, the U.S. should consider pulling political or financial support for his government.
[...]

Chambliss, R-Ga., who traveled with Graham as part of a larger congressional delegation, said lawmakers might even call for al-Maliki’s ouster if Baghdad didn’t reach agreement on at least some of the major issues seen as key to tamping down sectarian violence.

If this happens, (and I’m pretty sure it will), two things will come of it. We’ll be told we’ll have to wait another 6-12 months to give the newly installed PM a chance to turn things around, and it will show that republicans are not in lock’step with a failed Bush administration - in time for the up and coming election cycle. Even more, it’ll show that republicans are able to take (positive) steps to address the Iraqi war - something the democrats have failed to do so far.

With what little play the MSM has been giving on recent revelations of republicans and their boy-toys or “bridges to nowhere“, voters ultimately will only care about who actually tried to change the Iraqi status quo.

Hey, it’s ALL good!
