Governmental Waste
Buck December 28th, 2007 - 11:53 am“Keep your car properly maintained.” -Rep. Tim Murphy, R-Pa.
“Convicted felons can vote. [I]f ‘your’ prison sentence has been served, parole or probation completed and fines paid.” -Rep. Cynthia McKinney, D-Ga.
People without health insurance. People without homes. Appears our elected officials are unaware of these facts. They’re too busy spending $20.3 million of your tax money on what can be considered junk mail.

Cynthia McKinney, D-Ga., Is wrong! I know! Conviction in 1975 has disenfranchised me. Some states will allow convicted person to regain rights with an application for restoration, but not TN. Not ever.

TOB, this is an area I’m not at all familiar with. Seems to me when a person has done his time, the slate should be wiped clean.
Further, I don’t understand the logic as to why a person should lose his right to vote under ANY circumstance to begin with (except maybe treason?).
Am I missing something?

Buck, the reason that I know is because it affects me. Some states are more progressive than others but that doesn’t help me here. I became educated about it in 2004 when I became serious about politics and wanting to be involved. ACLU casually ignores inquirys about it even though I am a member. My hope is to move to a more progressive state and apply there. I was in trouble one time and over 30 years ago. I believe that I paid my debt in full, every single day of sentence. No parole, no probation. Cynthia McKinney is located in GA, I believe that their laws are different there.

Well, TOB, it’s not right. You’re say in the democratic process should be the same as everyone else’s!
