Bush says “this economy rests in the hands of the American people, not in the halls of our government.”
Bullshit!
I can’t say I have a clear understanding on how our economy works, but I’m pretty sure that Bush is wrong here. With all things being relative, Bush’s pro-war policies alone have wreaked havoc on our economy. Insanely huge debt and high crude prices brought about by the Iraqi and Afghani conflicts have a lot to do with our current economic state. Add to that, Bush administration policies that reward the wealthy while punishing the rest. The trickle-down theory has been debunked!
Bush says economy will bounce back from A-mixed- picture
CHICAGO (CNN) - President Bush acknowledged Monday that economic signals “have become increasingly mixed” in recent weeks, but warned against “aggressive” new regulations in response.
“This economy rests in the hands of the American people, not in the halls of our government,” Bush told members of the Illinois Chamber of Commerce.
The president said he remains optimistic the U.S. economy will survive the current onslaught of a deflating housing market, a related credit crunch and high energy prices because of strong fundamentals. He said small-business growth and consumer spending remain strong, while inflation rates remain low once volatile food and energy prices are factored out.
Using convoluted logic, one might conclude we are indeed to blame. We collectively sat back and watched as this train wreck of an administration took the reins in 2000… and kept them in 2004. Idiocy on our part allowed it to happen. So, we are to blame.
