Fade, you're right about a miscarriage being tough. It's been devastating to two of my friends, especially one who's had several.

It's also true, as often said, that "conservatives' commitment to life ends at birth."

There may be some men who are generally disturbed by all this. That's fine, but still not a compelling argument. Meanwhile, I think this post by Melissa speaks to the more pernicious trend:

Well, I'm just amazed at men that actually care this much. Most of my peers don't give much thought to it once the abortion is done. This is a complex subject, but if you want a child with a woman, pick a woman who wants a child with YOU. If she doesn't want a child with you, then chances are that isnt going to be a very good environment for a child growing up anyway. A early term fetus isn't a child yet. Its the possibility of a child. Someone who gets an abortion is someone who doesn't want that child to come into this world. Until a man can have the womb moved into his own body and carry the baby himself- he just doesn't and shouldn't be able to force an unwilling woman to carry the baby to term.
I have been through abortions, miscarriages, and pregnancies carried to term. As a man. The miscarriages were the worst, because as a couple, we wanted the baby. And it was like our baby died, not like a cell just ceased to exist. But I do not lose sleep over an abortion because it was a decision to stop the baby from being created because it was not going to be a good life for that child under the circumstances. The world is overpopulated. There are orphans in every city in America. Those Pro-life people should worry about the children who are already alive and who are currently suffering. - Once these babies are born, their concern for that child is suddenly stilled. I also believe that the best way for these people to prevent an actual abortion is by making the day after pill an over-the counter medication, available cheaply. Because then there would not even be a possible fetus to "kill". The pro life movement seems to be less about life and death and more about controlling women.

Please don't take my post as a calloused affront to these men. In fact, I'm not exactly pro-abortion - I'm pro-women's rights. It's their business!
But my heart does go out to these men.
