Nader

You take that framework of people feeling locked out, shut out, marginalized and disrespected. You go from Iraq, to Palestine to Israel, from Enron to Wall Street, from Katrina to the bumbling of the Bush administration, to the complicity of the Democrats in not stopping him on the war, stopping him on the tax cuts. In that context, I have decided to run for president.

-Ralph Nader

I’ve read in recent weeks that a Nader run wouldn’t effect the democratic vote as much as it did in 2000, when he siphoned off enough votes from Al Gore to help give Bush the win. I hope that’s true. But if this ends up being another close one, and it looks as though it just might, we’ll be looking at “another four years of more of the same.”

If Nader really gave a damn about America’s course, why isn’t he using his power and influence in other places? He still doesn’t accept responsibility for the last eight years. Some say he’s a republican operative. Spoiling an election, then not taking the blame for it… yep, sounds like republican SOP to me!

And how do the republicans feel about this?

Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee, speaking shortly before Nader’s announcement, said Nader’s past runs have shown that he usually pulls votes from the Democratic nominee. “So naturally, Republicans would welcome his entry into the race,” the former Arkansas governor said on CNN.
