Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton pledged increased hurricane recovery efforts, promised to end the conflict in Iraq and touted her work as a former first lady in Arkansas in asking thousands of Mississippians for their support Thursday night.

Clinton, a U.S. senator from New York, spoke to an estimated 2,000 Democratic faithful at the 26th annual Jefferson-Jackson Hamer Day Dinner.

It was her first campaign stop in Mississippi, where voters go to the polls Tuesday.
