Did You Know

      QuestionGirl     April 15th, 2008 - 11:30 am

Two alerts I received this morning:

BAGHDAD (AP) Iraqi police say a car bomb has exploded northeast of Baghdad in Baqouba, killing at least 20 people and wounding 42.

BAGHDAD (AP) Iraqi police say a car bomb exploded near a restaurant in Ramadi, killing at least 14 civilians and wounding 14 others.

I’m sick to death of hearing about which candidate is a working class stiff and which isn’t. Who’s an elitist and who isn’t. NONE of them are working class. End of story. The question is, which one is most likely to HELP the working class people in this country? And which candidate is most likely to get us OUT OF IRAQ????

Did you know that on April 6th we lost 8 soldiers in Iraq? Did you know that so far this month 24 of our soldiers have died in Iraq? Did you know that Bush approved “enhanced interrogation” that included waterboarding and other torture methods? Did you know there’s a dire situation in Zimbabwe? Did you know we are in the middle of a world food crisis? Did you know oil prices rose to over $112.00 a barrel today? Oops, make that over $113.00 and counting) Did you notice the death of the dollar? Did you know food price inflation is at its highest in 17 years? Did you know there’s a looming healthcare crisis. (looming…..it’s gonna get worse???) Did you know The Iran Counter-Proliferation Act of 2007, known as S970, may further undermine international cooperation with Washington? Did you know there’s children around the world who work 12-16 hour days? Did you know the U.S. home foreclosure crisis hasn’t ebbed yet? Did you know inflation at the wholesale level soared in March? Did you know if Barack Obama is our next president he will immediately look into possible CRIMES committed by the current administration? Did you know Rupert Murdoch has joined the AP board of directors? Did you know there’s a new judge appointed to the top post of the FISA court?

Did you know…..did you know…….did you know!

Rehashing Stupidity

      Buck     April 15th, 2008 - 10:49 am

“To me it makes no sense…”

What doesn’t make sense to you? That a college (liable for the children) is doing it’s best to keep on-campus shootings from occurring? That they realize the most stupid thing you can do is arm everyone (which would include the mentally imbalanced, the love-lorn, the heavily drinking frat boys)?

That makes no sense to you? Have you considered the possibility that maybe you shouldn’t be carrying a gun?

I’m tired of arguing. I say give them the guns. All of them. Let them shoot it out. Once the smoke clears and all the bodies are planted into the ground, maybe the pro-gun nuts will stand up and take a bow.

Students want chance to defend themselves

CINCINNATI, Ohio (CNN) — “Would you rather just sit there and cower underneath a desk when someone executes you or would you rather have a chance to defend your life? That’s what it really boils down to.”

Michael Flitcraft, a 23-year-old sophomore at the University of Cincinnati, has become a leading advocate for college students to carry weapons on campus. He’s an organizer for Students for Concealed Carry on Campus, a grass-roots organization that was formed after last year’s Virginia Tech massacre that left 32 college students and professors dead.

The group boasts more than 25,000 members.

Standing on the Cincinnati campus, Flitcraft calmly explained he is licensed to carry a weapon in Ohio. He wants to carry his gun on campus to defend himself from potential killers, but by law he can’t.

“To me it makes no sense that I can defend myself legally over there,” he said, pointing to the city streets. “But I am a felon if I step on the grass over here.”

Hillary Shot and a Beer Clinton

      QuestionGirl     April 15th, 2008 - 10:21 am

Ok, this is just too funny. Like she’s a shot and a beer girl…… riggghhhtttt. Politics at it’s……. worst. Let’s get off the phoney working class crap and get back to issues.

Eugene Robinson writes:

The former first lady, whose family has made $109 million since her husband left the White House, then made a show of demonstrating that she’s actually just a regular gal. The point wasn’t really to convince anyone that she, Bill and Chelsea commute between their two lavish mansions in a five-year-old Ford F-150 pickup with a gun rack and a “Jesus Rocks!” bumper sticker. Her aim was to prove to the nation — or at least to Democratic primary voters in Pennsylvania and Indiana — that she’s better at feigning regularness than Obama.

This is how we pick a president?

More Fantastic News

      Buck     April 15th, 2008 - 8:58 am

Gee. Now who’s doorstep was it we’re supposed to lay the blame again? Or is this one of those situations where, if we can’t figure out a way to put the blame squarely on a democrat’s back, then it’s obviously an act of God or nature?

Oil rises to intraday record above $112

VIENNA, Austria - Oil prices rose to an intraday trading record above $112 a barrel Tuesday as the U.S. dollar fell against the euro and crude oil shipments along one U.S. pipeline were said to be operating below capacity. [...]

Crude’s rally this week started with a decline in the dollar against the euro on Monday, analysts said. Crude oil’s recent run above $100 a barrel has been largely attributed to a steadily depreciating U.S. currency because a weakening dollar prompts investors to seek a safe haven in hard commodities such as oil and gold.

“We’ve seen another swing down in the U.S. dollar so I think we saw short term traders go back into oil as a hedge against the falling dollar,” said Mark Pervan, senior commodity strategist at the ANZ Bank in Melbourne, Australia.

Stephen Schork, in his Schork Report, described the rush into oil on the falling dollar as an automatic reflex.

All’s Well On The War Front

Maybe we should draw down some troops? Or maybe we should surge? Hell, I’m confused:

More than 50 killed by car bombs in Iraq

BAGHDAD - Car bombs ripped through crowded areas at lunch hour in the former Sunni insurgent strongholds of Baqouba and Ramadi on Tuesday as more than 50 people were killed in one of the deadliest days in Iraq in months.

A parked car bomb also targeted a police patrol in central Baghdad, killing four civilians who were passing by and wounding 15 other people, police said.

Nobody claimed responsibility for Tuesday’s attacks, but they bore the hallmarks of al-Qaida and came after weeks of few car bombings or suicide attacks.
