A Hot, Steamy Pile By Any Other Name…

      Buck     May 14th, 2008 - 11:11 pm

I can’t begin to tell you how mad this makes me. Before Blue Herald, I rarely followed politics. It was all just a blur to me as I would walk on by a television tuned to the evening news.

You’ve probably heard that if Bush were to “off” an infant on-air, barely a gasp would be uttered. Let Obama go a day without a flag lapel pin and watch the MSM and half the country go ape’shit. It all just serves to push me back away from politics.

My fellow democrats, I implore you, if you’re thinking of running for office, and there’s a small chance you may use that office for some crooked adventures or personal gain, or whatever, then please don’t run. Stay home and let someone who does give a damn be elected, k? It would be a much greater country if you did!

Scandal-plagued Ohio attorney general resigns

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Ohio’s attorney general resigned Wednesday under threat of impeachment because of a sexual harassment investigation in his office and his extramarital affair.

Attorney General Marc Dann, a Democrat elected in 2006 on an anti-corruption platform, said at a news conference that he had to resign to preserve the ability of the office to carry out the priorities he established. [...]

He admitted May 2 to an extramarital affair with an employee that he said contributed to an atmosphere leading to sexual harassment claims against a top aide. [...]

Strickland and Dann were among many Ohio Democrats swept into office after an investment scandal that involved a GOP donor and went as high as former Gov. Bob Taft, a Republican.

Edwards Endorses Obama

John Edwards (who I wish would have been our next President) just endorsed Barack Obama, as Hillary meets with her fundraisers to try and scrape up some money.

The Smell Of Death?

      Buck     May 14th, 2008 - 2:58 pm

WashingtonPost columnist, Dana Milbank, parallels the Hillary Clinton death watch to an old Monty Python skit:

Customer: “Look, matey, I know a dead parrot when I see one, and I’m looking at one right now.”

Pet’shop owner: “No, no he’s not dead, he’s — he’s resting! Remarkable bird, the Norwegian blue, isn’t it, aye? Beautiful plumage!”

– From “Monty Python’s Flying Circus

11:45 a.m., Melrose Hotel, Foggy Bottom: It’s Day 7 of the Clinton Campaign Death Watch — a full week since the official arbiter of the Democratic primary, Tim Russert, declared the campaign over and Barack Obama the nominee. Hillary Clinton’s advisers continue to insist that the candidate’s prospects are very much alive, but the press isn’t buying it. Exhibit A: There are two press buses waiting at the hotel here for Clinton’s trip to her victory rally in West Virginia, but the entire press contingent doesn’t quite fill one. It isn’t until the entourage arrives at Dulles Airport that Clinton aides learn that the second bus is still idling, empty, at the hotel.

BBC Report on Bush Visit to Israel

      QuestionGirl     May 14th, 2008 - 12:52 pm

Call me stupid, but our foreign policy towards Israel is fucking up the world. Here’s the BBC report on Bush’s visit to Israel on the 60 year anniversary of the “serious impediment to peace.”

Not So “Happy Jetting”

      QuestionGirl     May 14th, 2008 - 12:13 pm

A New York City man is suing JetBlue Airways Corp. for more than $2 million because he says a pilot made him give up his seat to a flight attendant and sit on the toilet for more than three hours on a flight from California.

Gokhan Mutlu, of Manhattan’s Inwood section, says in court papers the pilot told him to “go ‘hang out’ in the bathroom” about 90 minutes into the San Diego to New York flight because the flight attendant complained that the “jump seat” she was assigned was uncomfortable, the lawsuit said.

Mutlu was traveling on a “buddy pass,” a standby travel voucher that JetBlue employees give to friends, from New York to San Diego on February 16, and returned to New York on February 23, the lawsuit said.

Initially, Mutlu was told a flight attendant had taken the last seat on the plane, but then he was advised she would sit in the employee “jump seat,” meaning he could have the last seat, the lawsuit said.

The pilot told him 11/2 hours into the five-hour flight that he would have to relinquish the seat to the flight attendant, court papers say. But the pilot said that Mutlu could not sit in the jump seat because only JetBlue employees were permitted to sit there, the lawsuit said.

When Mutlu expressed reluctance to go sit in the bathroom, the pilot, who was not named in the lawsuit, told him that “he was the pilot, that this was his plane, under his command that (Mutlu) should be grateful for being on board,” the lawsuit said.

President George W Bush has said he was disappointed in “flawed intelligence” in the run-up to the US-led invasion of Iraq in 2003.

Mr Bush said analysis of the material by many intelligence agencies had led to the “wrong conclusion” on weapons of mass destruction.
