Four More Years

McCain distancing himself from the unpopular Bush is only logical. But I’m not seeing it. He’s following in Bush’s footsteps as far as Iraq is concerned. He promises to continue the Bush tax mantra: take from the poor and give to the rich. I really don’t see much of a difference between the two, except that McCain is much older. |
For McCain, distance from Bush is key
[...] McCain’s burden this year is as much about convincing voters that he is not a continuation of the Bush presidency as it is about beating his Democratic opponent.
“John McCain unfortunately is burdened by a not very good economy, by an ongoing war in Iraq and by Bush’s poll numbers in the high 20s,” Ken Duberstein, Ronald Reagan’s former chief of staff, who is very well-connected in Republican circles, told me Monday. “McCain can-t be in a position of defending the last eight years.”

He’s also “burdened” by the fact that he’s embraced almost all of Bush’s horrible policies, or invented even crappier ones!

He’s right, there is no defending the last eight years, but McGrandpa can no more disown it than Bush himself. McGrandpa and Likud Lieberman have been even more hawkish than Bush. He is distancing himself from Bush by being even worse than Bush? OK whatever.

My friend…… it’ a good idea to put some distance between you and George. You know ole palsie walsie… you might want to consider swimming across an ocean to get some REAL distance. Then stay wherever you land.
