GOP: The Art Of Deflection

You know that high price for gas you’ve been paying at the pump? Well it turns out that neither Bush, his Iraqi war, nor any of the his pandering republican friends had anything to do with it. That’s right. It’s all the democrats fault! Namely that liberal elitist bitch Pelosi.

Washington stymied on how to deal with gasoline prices

WASHINGTON - When gasoline hit $4 a gallon in San Francisco, Republicans quickly noted that it happened in the hometown of the nation’s most powerful Democrat: House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

In a speech on the Senate floor, Republican Kit Bond of Missouri recalled how Pelosi had promised lower gasoline prices before Democrats took control of Congress in 2006.

“Well, we certainly got change, all right,” Bond said. “Since the Democrats have come to power in the House and Senate, pain at the pump has increased by 50 — five-zero — 50 percent.” [...]

“As the price of gas climbs higher, it looks like the Democratic plan to bring down prices was another of their empty campaign promises,” said House Republican Whip Roy Blunt of Missouri.

House Minority Leader John Boehner of Ohio said the average price of gasoline was $2.33 per gallon on Jan. 4, 2007, Pelosi’s first day as speaker.

And just what the fuck did Kit Bond, Roy Blunt or John Boehner do to stop this from happening? You bastards mind answering me that one? (And while we’re at it, where did these fucks get their names???)

I know democrats took ‘control’ of Congress in ‘06. But when did they really take control? As far as I know they haven’t yet. They keep getting slapped down on every piece of legislation that they bring forth. The threat of a republican filibuster wafts the halls of Congress daily.

But it doesn’t help that our current batch of Constitution-defending democrats lack vertebrae.

Stymied my ass. Apparently both republican and democrat congressional incumbents alike feel so confident of their re-election that they are going to just sit there and point the finger at each other while us consumers continue to get gouged at the pump. I’ve got a finger for all of them and that same finger is gonna vote for anyone but an incumbent come November. If you can’t get it done then get the fuck out. Both Partys have done everything in their power to keep it a two party system so to sit there and blame your inability to get anything done on the other party is fucking ridiculous bullshit. The only conclusion I can come to is that NONE of you give a shit about the people who elected you. Well I don’t give a shit about you either. You’re useless.

Oh and BTW, food prices are going to be following oil’s lead. Contrary to popular belief commodities prices are NOT driven solely by supply and demand, they are largely driven by speculation. (50-60% of oil’s price is caused by speculation) Investors who have abandoned the paper assets markets because of the mortgage/credit meltdown have now flooded the commodities markets and it is their speculation in these markets which drives the prices up. The $600 billion predatory lending/bundled securities scam perpetrated by the Fed and the financial institutions is proving to be the scam that just won’t go away. Millions of people will starve to death and governments will topple as a result. You might want to take a look at what’s happening in Haiti right now for an indicator. It’s gonna get really, really ugly kids.
