Hagel Takes on McCain, Praises Obama
QuestionGirl May 21st, 2008 - 1:27 pmChuck Hagel is quickly becoming Barack Obama’s answer to Joe Lieberman.
The Republican Senator from Nebraska was a political thorn in McCain’s side on Tuesday night, repeatedly lavishing praise on the presumptive Democratic candidate and levying major foreign policy criticisms at the GOP nominee and the Republican Party as a whole. At one point, Hagel even urged the Arizona Republican to elevate his campaign discourse to a higher, more honest level.

Wow. I’ve watched this guy for years, and have thought he was one of the few GOP members that may have possessed a shred of integrity. As the Neocon stranglehold began to subside, I actually thought they would run him as their presidential nominee. I guess he was too honest for the GOP, not that I trust any of them much at this point. But body language tells all if you watch closely, and I can still remember the disgusted looks over many of the GOPs anti-constitutional actions.

Of course there is the very real possibility that he is craftily hedging his bets against a vanishing GOP presence in hopes of maintaining some grasp on his well paid position, and those in the future — after all, he is a politician.

That is a possibility DK. He has been speaking out for some time, though. He has stated he regrets his Iraq war vote and thinks we should get out. As Republicans go, he’s ok.

Thanks for the link, QG. That was an interesting article, and one which I missed. Glad to see that my personal impressions match up with the rhetoric. Can we legally clone him?

Can we trade Lieberman for Hagel?

Bro, what if we offered both Joe and Hillary, for Hagel?
Or would republicans say “No fucking thanks”?

Joe already is a Republican.
