Please forgive my simpleness, but I never read the same message that everyone else here reads into these cartoons. But then again I guess I am to literal. I was never able to pick up the hidden meanings in any of the stories or poems that we had to read in English class in high school either.

Nice collection of (sometimes) humorous, thought provoking viewpoints form the cartoonists of the media. Missed it’s debut, but with the benefit of hindsight perhaps all the more pointed.

Joshua, you’re welcome to like Heston, but this post was hardly meant as a detailed retrospective of Heston’s life, career and politics. Some of his previous views and activism are certainly to his credit, and it raises the question of why he changed so radically, and was so outspokenly conservative, even reactionary, for at least the last 20 years of his life. I You may have noticed this sucker is looooooong. I merely wanted to note that Heston died and he was an icon to many conservatives — who definitely don’t have fond memories of 60s political Heston, for those who even know that about him. But most everyone who dies has someone to whom he or she meant something.

You may not have been a fan of Heston’s stint with the NRA or his abortion views, but his earlier work supporting labor unions, Martin Luther King Jr. and opposition to the war in Vietnam before it was unpopular are certainly reason to look at his lifetime in a more nuanced way than simple rejection, in my opinion, and the cheap jabs at the man in his advanced age by Michael Moore and George Clooney were in poor taste.

This is it? This is all they’ve got? Looks like a whole lotta nuthin’ to me… especially those relating to Obama. About every cartoon here can be considered “reaching”, at best. Laughable.

But I do have to say, regarding the Kentuckian-Hicks-for-Hillary cartoon, Fairrington can bite my ass.
