People out here are good for cutin ya off and then flipping ya the bird as if you cut them off.

Bro, I've seen that too. Remember the movie, "Carrie"? Remember near the end Travolta's car flipped over and exploded? If only that would happen to these bastard drivers, highways would be so much nicer. Littered with burnt out cars maybe, but nicer.

Shuddup. We have many problems on the roads here. Slow drivers, fast drivers, drivers who can't read English therefore they have no idea what the signs say, tourist who don't know where they are, 800,000 illegal drivers, and too many IDIOTS to count. Case in point. I can't talk about speeding though.....my nickname is Danica. But I'm never reckless. I have, however, received two speeding violations in the past year, so the brakes are on.

The rightside squeeze run is most common from drivers with New York plates, I found - at least if one is traveling on 95, even way down South. It's very dangerous.

In CA, people don't use turn signals, because it lets other people know what you're planning! Seriously, there are a lot of aggressive assholes out here who speed up and try to block you out if you signal a lane change, even if there's plenty of room. I generally signal and move quickly.

Then there's Alabama drivers, who signal a turn, then leave the light blinking for another 10 minutes or so.

Meanwhile, in Florida, there's a whole group of drivers always drive 35 mph - whether the sign says 20 mph or 55 mph, they stick at 35 mph. When I was down in Florida for a couple of years, I saw people drive the wrong way on a one-way street at least 6 times, and also people driving over the middle partition to make a U-Turn.

Californians rarely use their turn signals and I'm not sure if they think they are saving the charge on the battery in their hybrid or what. Apparently only they, themselves need to know where they are going and one can only wonder about that.

The passing on the right to get ahead of one car in the left lane is getting worse and worse. You are almost forced to tailgate because if you leave enough room for even one car between you and the car in front of you they will pass you on the right and then cut back in front of you. People who drive like they are playing a video game should be restricted to playing video games and not allowed to drive, period. Game over.

Oh, yea, there's always room for corruption in just about anything. Also, if you give anyone or any group an inch, they WILL try to take a foot. That's just human, and means we need better controls.

I hate a police state as much as the next guy, but come on... without it, there are going to be a few that will try to rule over the whole.

Whatever, grandpa! ;-)

Seriously, the key issue is whether someone's driving safely or not. And there need to be some external standards, obviously, like the speed limit and weather conditions. But it's legal but not as safe to drive the speed limit if everyone else is driving 10 miles faster - although on a highway, generally you can get in a more right-side lane if you want to go slower. I'm happy to see reckless drivers get ticketed. And out here in L.A., you'll see douchebags every day.

The thing is, parking tickets and speeding tickets are a key source of income for the police in many counties, and most have quotas. On the one hand, one could argue that system targets offenders without raising taxes on everyone else, on the other, some of those tickets are stretches or even bogus, and there's the question of how police time and resources are allocated. Out here in L.A., they run a pedestian trap on at least one intersection, which I would think is of questionable legality.

And if you're thinking I'm that 80-year-old, doing 40 in a 55-MPH zone, you're wrong. I'm that 45 that always does right about 5-MPH over the speed limit. I simply would like to make it there and back... and live to tell about it.
