Roman Justice

In light of the recent withdrawals of the various nominees, I think it’s important to look long and hard at the pool from which these choices come. The Congress of the United states is filled with corrupt, self centered, elite, out-of-touch, entitled blow-hards. The President has a limited list of options when it comes to selecting people to fill these positions. The very fact that anyone in politics would not have already vetted themselves is just another sad reminder of why we are in such dire straits right now.

We talk about what should be done to the CEOs that are exsanguinating the American economy. Yet our version of the Roman senate is untouched. We hear phrases like “moving forward” and “not looking back,” but that’s just so things will stay the same. I think this such a crucial moment in our history that it demands that we look back. Look back and see what these political CEOs have done to this country. We definitely need to move forward. Move forward like a steamroller over these idiots of both parties that have treated American lives like “toys some rich kid got for Christmas.”

As far as a solution…People can say that these are complicated issues and they will require complicated solutions. But sometimes simple is really the best. You want these corporate CEOs to step into line? Put one….just one, in prison. Not white collar, white skin prison but real ass-reaming regular prison and it will be over tomorrow. The same goes for politicians. Immigration? Oooh let’s let Grumman and Haliburton build a 2000 mile wall with lasers and sensors. Or you could put anyone that hires an illegal in jail and it’s over tomorrow. Maybe Roman style debauchery should be met with Roman justice. Our politicians are the way they are because there is no consequence to there corruption. Maybe its time for the barbarian hoard to step in.

YES!!! YESSSSS!!! I agree 100%. Its not about right vs left its about right vs wrong. Does anyone really think one party is better than the other? Or that one party is less corrupt than the other? Do you really think either party CARES about whats good for America? Or do they just care about their power and their pocketbooks? They are all corrupt, yet they keep us divided. Lets all vote for Captain Sullivan. I'm sure he understands the words honor, integrity, and duty without having to reach for a dictionary unlike the current criminals in Washington.

    Nice, chicher!

There's a bit in The West Wing where Leo tells the story of Bill Russell being mugged on the court but not wanting to throw an elbow - and Red Auerbach tells him, throw it once, and you'll never have to again. He does, hard, and he didn't have to do it again.

Congressmen, bankers and Wall Street scumbags don't learn that quickly, but sometimes they just need to smacked around. Bringing the stocks back wouldn't be bad, either.

I agree, prosecute and imprison these corporate criminals, but I must object to your advocacy of "real ass reaming regular prison."

The brutal conditions that exist in the US prison system are a national disgrace. It's wrong to use these inhuman conditions as fodder for a joke, to make a political point or to appear gritty and tough.

Your off hand reference to institutionalized violent sexual assault is in poor taste at best, fascist at worst.

You would be right, sir, if I had intended it has a joke.
And use the fucking doily, bub, that's what theys there for.

Wow! You hit it on the head. Unfortunately (or maybe not), I think it would take more than one CEO to end up in "real" gang-raping prison before the rest "really" got it. They would think that the one was an anomoly and that they and "their money" are still safe. Haul 1000 into jail and I think the message would finally hit home (and the scales of justice would be beginning to move, if ever so slightly)
