“Ode to Billy Joe”
I’ve been doing this for over ten years. Every 3rd of June I call up just about everyone I know and say, in a very sad voice ” I got some bad news……………………..from up on Choctaw Ridge”. People react in various ways, usually outraged that I scared them. Then they want to hang up so they can start calling up other friends and pulling the exact same crap. It ends up being a great way to touch base with people you might not have talked to lately. Billie Joe’s sacrifice has united many folks in grief and hilarity.

I remember watching the movie when I was very young. Very moving. Very sad.

Man she's sexy. I love that voice of hers. I think I was 19 when I first heard this. In amongst the rock 'n' roll that we'd listen to OS, there would be this in amongst it all. She was a pinup girl to a lot of us blokes.
