What’s Wrong With This Picture?

Without going into detail, recently we encountered a problem with the IRS. Not pretty. Ugly. Really ugly. And they have admitted they LOST the tax returns that they are disputing.

Is the IRS looking at Bernie Madoff? I don’t think so. Never have I read anywhere that he was charged with tax evasion. That in itself should have gotten him life in prison. Then there’s this……….

Three South Florida men who ran a string of credit repair companies settled with the Federal Trade Commission over allegations that they falsely claimed they could remove accurate but negative information, such as bankruptcies and late fees, from consumers’ credit reports.

Michael Singer, of Boca Raton, Melvin Kessler, of Fort Lauderdale, and Gerald Roth, of Plantation, each agreed to pay a $5,000 penalty over the operation of credit repair companies they ran under several names, including American Credit Experts Inc. and Legal Credit Repair Center Inc. Their judgments were reduced from an original $20 million because the men said they couldn’t afford the larger amount.

WTF! The original judgment was $20 million and was reduced to $15,000 because THEY COULDN’T AFFORD THE LARGER SUM?????? Gee, you can rip people off for millions, even billions…..and if you can’t afford to pay the fine it’s just peachy keen. But the government will fucking ruin the lives of average Americans whose tax returns THEY lost. This country is beyond fucked up.
