Gotta say that I have just never been a fan of MJ. He did his best work at the age of twelve and the whole "King of Pop" thing was pure marketing. He did the same five dance moves for 25 years. and as far as dancing goes, watch any of his videos and count "one-mississippi" between edits and see if you make it to "two-mississippi". With cuts like that, you could make a basset hound look like Fred Astaire. I would just stick a sock in it and let this play out but it is saturating the media like a fat kid eating his way out of a fifty foot jelly doughnut.

  2. Buck Says:

Chicher, I'm only going to say this once...

    LEAVE MICHAEL ALONE!

    (hehehe)

  3. QG Says:

    Oh he died?

  4. chicher Says:

he is alone as he can be, Buck

  5. QG Says:

I'm with ya on this one Chicher. Never was that crazy about him as he got older. I have friends who saw the Jacksons in a shithole in East Chicago Heights...right across the Indiana border. They had to sneak out to go over and see them. This was in the late 60's and this was an all black neighborhood, and race relations weren't the greatest at that time. Had to be about 68. They said they were great. What a fucked up family, though. Fame ain't all it's cracked up to be......

  6. Buck Says:

    YO! QGirl...

  11. QuestionGirl Says:

No, I know you don't forget Buck. Neither do I. Insert evil grin here.

  12. Bro Says:

Without MTV (Jackson's marketing vehicle) Jackson would have been just a blip on the pop culture radar screen. The same can be said for Madonna.

  13. Buck Says:

    Bro, you can...

    Flo

    :happy3:

  14. chicher Says:

what time portal are you getting these pictures from?

You people don't really think I'm defending Jackson, do you? I just find it amusing how so many people hate that he had a following. From the way people talk, you'd think Jackson's fan club was as off the wall as Limbaugh's are.

It doesn't matter how he got his fame - he had it. And you can't have that without a loyal (fanatical, even) fan base, right?

I don't understand why people loved him as much as they did. Equally, I don't understand the hatred that so many had too. Makes no sense.

I liked Michael's music. I liked the lyrics and the beat. I grew up on the Jackson's. But I don't own any Jackson albums. I never went to any of his concerts.

I'm just trying to figure why all the hatred.

  20. chicher Says:

    No hatred here, Buck.
I just can't think of anyone from his era that is thought of the way he is and yet has not produced anything of note all this time. He didn't pioneer anything and really just mimicked the disco sound of the time. I am not a great fan of The Beatles either but I was at one time and will readily acknowledge their long lasting contribution to music and culture. The fact that Jackson bought their catalog speaks volumes. He was too much product and not enough talent for my taste. ...Oh, and he shredded his face to shit and slept with children.

  21. Buck Says:

"...has not produced anything of note."

He must have done something of note - billions of fans and billions of albums sold would like to have a word with you.

    "...and slept with children."

A court of law says otherwise. But then again, I lack ESP.

Why he shred his face like he did, I do not know. Why people do anything, I do not know. Entertainers like Michael live an entirely different life than the rest of us. There would have to be lots more pressure. They say he couldn't make a turn without his "handlers" showing him how. But he was who he was... and why that irks so many puzzles the hell out of me.

PS, I liked disco (big surprise, I know). I think I liked it mainly because it was a much happier time in the world. People just seemed happier. There seemed to be more hope in the world. Then, one day, someone stood up and said "disco sucks!". And here we are now. Oh yeah, this is much better than the 70's!

But, since I'm outnumbered here, I'm obviously in the wrong. I'll shut up now.

  22. QG Says:

No right or wrong in it. But shuddup anyway.
