Republican Hypocrisy

      Buck     September 1st, 2008 - 11:25 am

Those RedState idiots.

Of course it’s wrong. No different than when Pat Robertson or Jerry Falwell did it. The only difference here is the grand hypocrisy of RedState staff and visitors.

(CNN) — Former Democratic National Committee Chairman Don Fowler apologized Sunday for recently joking Hurricane Gustav’s expected landfall on the same day as the opening of the Republican National Convention suggested God was on the Democrats’ side.

A YouTube video of the comments posted by the conservative blog RedState.org and showed Fowler joking with South Carolina Rep. John Spratt about the timing of the hurricane while on a flight from the Democratic National Convention back to South Carolina. The person who filmed the conversation is not identified.

“The hurricane is going to hit New Orleans about the time they start. The timing is, at least it appears now, it will be there Monday. That just demonstrates God is on our side,” Fowler said, while laughing. Fowler also told Spratt that “everything’s cool.”

The Two Faces Of John McCain

      Buck     August 17th, 2008 - 11:44 am

Whether he’s at home barbecuing for a gathering of journalists, or spending the evening chatting to a group of evangelical Christians, John McCain proves to us just how easy it is to side with everyone on issues:

On abortion, McCain said he would be a pro-life president and would support legislation favoring anti-abortion policy positions.

No Surprise Here

      Buck     April 14th, 2008 - 9:47 am

Republican sex scandals abound. David Vitter… Larry Craig… Ted Haggard… Mark Foley… Bob Allen… the list goes on. Punishment? Are you joking??

I’m still waiting for republicans to apologize to Bill Clinton for the way they treated him over the Lewinsky scandal, and to American taxpayers for the millions they blew through funding the investigation.

But I won’t hold my breath. These bastards are the biggest bunch of in-your-face hypocrites to have ever roamed the planet.

Senator Vitter won’t testify in sex case

WASHINGTON - Sen. David Vitter will not have to testify about his ties to an upscale Washington escort service, a defense attorney said Monday, sparing the Louisiana Republican an embarrassing trip to the witness stand.

Vitter has been on notice for more than a week that he could have to appear during the prostitution trial of Deborah Palfrey. Palfrey’s attorney, Preston Burton, said he would rest his case Monday without calling Vitter or any other witnesses.

Vitter has acknowledged being involved with Palfrey’s escort service and has apologized for what he called “a very serious sin.” He has since avoided most follow-up questions.

Remember kids, IOKIYAR!

“Sweatheart Deal” For John Ashcroft

      Buck     April 9th, 2008 - 11:01 pm

“There is not a conflict, there is not an appearance of a conflict,” Mr. Ashcroft told a House Judiciary Committee hearing this morning.

Not even the appearance of one, huh? Yep, that’s gall.

Nice Work If You Can Get It: John Ashcroft’s Big Payday

John Ashcroft, the former Attorney General, insisted today that there was nothing wrong with a former employee giving him a no-bid monitoring contract that could be worth as much as $52 million. [...]

We beg to disagree. Mr. Ashcroft was awarded the contract by Christopher Christie, the United States Attorney for New Jersey. The assignment is to monitor Zimmer Holdings, a manufacturer of medical supplies accused of fraud.

Mr. Ashcroft was Mr. Christie’s boss, and as a powerful Republican, he could prove helpful again in the future. Mr. Christie is believed to have political ambitions. Mr. Ashcroft could line up political support or campaign contributions for his former employee turned benefactor.

Rep. Linda Sanchez, Democrat of California, was right to say that it looked like a “sweetheart deal.”

Just so you’ll know:

Deferred prosecution agreements give corporations a period of probation, during which time charges are held in abeyance, so that they can clean house and cooperate. While these agreements provide corporations the ability to swiftly resolve investigations and reassure shareholders and employees of the company’s continued viability, the agreements also create risks through increased exposure to civil liability and financial penalties and heightened tensions between the company and its employees resulting from the waiver of attorney-client and work-product privileges.

I like what NYT’s commenter, Reasoner101, had to say on the subject:

This is the hypocrite who held forced prayer vigils at DOJ and swore to bring his “Christian values” into our federal government. The hypocrite who basically regarded our Constitution as toilet paper. It says a lot about the criminal enterprise that has ruled this country since the 2000 junta that this man was its first choice to head the Justice Department. $52 million no bid contract. Incredible. Ashcroft ought to be tarred and feathered and excommunicated from whatever church he is part of.

Torn

      Buck     March 24th, 2008 - 1:08 pm

Torn because I really do not know how I’m supposed to feel about this. My first impulse was to have the bum thrown from office. But then I remembered Senators Craig and Vitter, and how they’re retaining their seats.

What are we supposed to think?

Detroit Mayor Charged With Perjury

DETROIT (AP) — Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick, a one-time rising star and Detroit’s youngest elected leader, was charged Monday with perjury and other counts after sexually explicit text messages contradicted his sworn denials of an affair with a top aide.

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy also charged the popular yet polarizing 37-year-old mayor with obstruction of justice and misconduct in office.

Kilpatrick’s lawyer, Dan Webb, predicted that the mayor would be exonerated on all charges and said he has recommended to the mayor that he not resign.

John McHypocrite

      Buck     March 1st, 2008 - 12:24 pm

ThinkProgress is reporting that John McCain often McSpeaks out of both sides of his McFace:

McCain Repeatedly Lobbied FCC On Behalf Of Campaign Contributors

In 1999, McCain wrote two controversial letters to the FCC on behalf of broadcaster and campaign contributor Lowell “Bud” Paxson. He urged the commissioners to make a “rapid decision on Paxson’s quest to acquire a Pittsburgh television station.” McCain had flown on Paxson’s corporate jet on four occasions, and received $28,000 in contributions from Paxson and his law firm.

A Case Of Sexism?

      Buck     February 27th, 2008 - 9:27 am

Oh, man! This woman poses in her underpants and gets a pink slip, while Larry Craig, a United States Senator…

- HAD SEX
   - WITH OTHER MEN
     - IN PUBLIC BATHROOMS
       - AND GETS ARRESTED FOR IT

Ore. Mayor Poses in Underwear, Loses Job

ARLINGTON, Ore. (AP) — The mayor of an Oregon town who once stripped to her underwear and posed on a fire truck has been stripped of her office.

Voters in this town of about 500 voted narrowly Monday to recall Carmen Kontur-Gronquist. The tally was 142-139. City officials said the recall is effective Tuesday. [...]

Opponents said it wasn’t fitting for the mayor to be so depicted. They said they also disagreed with her on issues about water and the local golf course.

“Bombshells”, A La Hypocrites

      Buck     February 23rd, 2008 - 10:26 am

What they call bombshells, we call FACTS. Republicans truly are whiny, crybaby bed-wetters aren’t they!

Clinton / LewinskyMy apologies. I’ve been out of the loop for several days now but, from what I have been able to keep up with, I haven’t seen anyone tie this unfolding drama to the Clinton/Lewinsky saga. Am I the only one that sees the similarities? Am I the only one to notice the HYPOCRISY of the right for not wanting to fire up a multi-million-dollar investigation into McCain’s past? Where’s the attempt by the high morals crowd to have McCain impeached (from something, anything)? This kind of thing is important, is it not? They said it was during Clinton’s presidency. What’s changed?

Must be another case of the IOKIYAR. F*cking hypocrites.

White House accuses NYT of anti-GOP bias

McCainWASHINGTON - The White House sided with Sen. John McCain and accused The New York Times on Friday of repeatedly trying to “drop a bombshell” on Republican presidential nominees to undermine their candidacies.[...]

“And that is something that the Republican nominee has faced in the past and probably will face in this campaign,” [White House deputy press secretary Scott Stanzel] said. “And sometimes they make incredible leaps to try to drop those bombshells on the Republican nominee.”

As for the allegations about McCain, Stanzel said, “I’m not going to speak to the specifics in that story but it’s been our impression that they do drop those bombshells.”

In a statement Thursday, Times Executive Editor Bill Keller said, “We think the story speaks for itself.”

UPDATE:

“I will fight every moment of every day in this campaign to make sure Americans are not deceived by an eloquent but empty call for change,” McCain said after winning the Wisconsin primary. It was a thinly veiled suggestion that the Illinois Democrat, who has now won 11 straight primary and caucus contests over Hillary Rodham Clinton, lacks the experience, judgment and character a president needs.

Obama, (surely with the White House at his side!), should accuse McCain of “repeatedly trying to undermine his candidacy”.

Hypocrisy

      Buck     February 15th, 2008 - 10:12 am

Surely you know all about this by now:

Gunman at Illinois College Kills 6 People and Himself, Wounds 15

DEKALB, Ill., Feb. 14 — Without saying a word, a gunman dressed in black opened fire in a Northern Illinois University geology class Thursday, killing five students and wounding 16. He fired at random, authorities said, until the moment he killed himself.

I just heard on the radio two things of interest. One; Bush has sent word of his condolences to those affected by the shootings, and two; The gunman stepped into a gun shop about a week ago and purchased his weapon of choice.

Now wouldn’t you think it would take “balls-that-hang-all-the-way-to-the-floor” nerve to place a call to these students, when you’re a part of the grand movement to make purchasing guns as easy as buying bubblegum?

Some of my friends from the right argue that’s the price we pay for freedom. Yet these very same people can’t seem to wrap their little brains around the fact that a “no flag burning” law restricts those same freedoms.

I have no problem with gun ownership. I don’t think the Constitution guarantees it, but also no where does it say it’s illegal/forbidden/whatever. I just happen to agree with the sane half of America that there needs to be better checks in place before someone can make a purchase.
