Verdict is In: Palin Abused Power in Troopergate
by QuestionGirl

Lying bitch. And she has the fucking nerve to be out there telling people they should be concerned with Obama’s truthfulness. This should be the nail in the coffin for the McCain bid for the presidency.

From ABC:

Sarah Palin abused her power when she fired her Public Safety Commissioner this July, a state investigation has concluded.

The Alaska legislature voted to release the several-hundred page report on the “Troopergate” scandal, a state kerfuffle which has come to haunt Gov. Sarah Palin’s vice presidential bid. The scandal centered around her firing of Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan, which Monegan and others believed was part of a personal vendetta against one of his subordinates.

The 14-member, Republican-dominated Legislative Council met in closed session this morning with the investigation’s special counsel, Stephen Branchflower. After seven hours of exhaustive review, the legislators voted unanimously to release the report to the public.

“I’m going to vote to release it, but it’s not a vote in total agreement,” said Republican Sen. Gary Stevens.

A Desperate McCain Campaign
by Buck

They said republicans would continue getting worse and worse in their attempt to make Barack Obama look unfit for the White House. These childish tactics are almost too much to take. Only a moron could fall for this shit:

Obama’s ‘blind ambition’ targeted

(CNN) — John McCain is continuing his effort to associate Barack Obama with 1960’s radical William Ayers, launching a national campaign ad Friday that accuses the Illinois senator of “blind ambition.”

“Obama’s blind ambition. When convenient, he worked with terrorist Bill Ayers. When discovered, he lied. Obama. Blind ambition. Bad judgment,” the ad’s narrator says.

Congressional liberals fought for risky sub-prime loans. Congressional liberals fought against more regulation,” the narrator continues. “Then, the housing market collapsed costing you billions. In crisis, we need leadership, not bad judgment.”

The spot is the latest in a series of attempts by the Arizona senator’s campaign to raise questions about Obama’s past ,and portray the Democratic presidential nominee as less than candid about his political origins.

I think the media should spend a little more time talking about the McCain’s “Keating 5” days. For some odd reason, they rather keep the subject on an already disproved Obama / William Ayers connection. Why is that?

Also, is McCain saying that republicans are against deregulation? They’re joking, right? Two-faced, hypocritical lying republican bastards.

The Big Bitch Speaks
by Buck

Well, she opened her mouth and shit flowed forth. These people are getting desperate.

You could not be in your right mind to even consider voting for these people. What is wrong with you people?

Cindy McCain says Obama running ‘dirtiest campaign’ ever

(CNN) — Cindy McCain lashed out at Barack Obama Tuesday, telling a Tennessee newspaper the Illinois senator has waged the “dirtiest campaign in American history.” [...]

Speaking to the Tennessean, Cindy McCain also said her husband would use Tuesday night’s town hall forum as an opportunity to correct what she suggested were misleading statements from the Obama campaign.

“What I have found is that it’s necessary to make sure the American people understand what we have to say, what we stand for as a husband and wife, and what we will do for the American people if we’re lucky enough to be elected,” Mrs. McCain also told the paper.

They’re going to do for America what they did to McCain’s first wife… SCREW YOU OVER!

And, Cindy, if you want to see a bald-faced LIAR, you only need to roll over and look at the old fart laying next to you, bitch.

On the Madeleine Albright quote from a Starbucks coffee cup

So sad the Republican ticket has nothing to run on but the same old same old so they have to resort to smears and bullshit rather than talking about issues. Oh, I forgot…..this bitch is too stupid to talk about the issues.

I’ll Be Watching Some Letterman Tonight
by QuestionGirl

Seems John McCain was scheduled to be on Letterman tonight. He called at the last minute this afternoon to cancel due to the financial crisis. Letterman finds out that when McCain should have been sitting on the couch talking to him, he was at NBC taping a segment with Katie Couric. Keith Olbermann stepped in to substitute. Letterman is beyond pissed.

From the New York Times:

Even after Mr. Letterman brought out Keith Olbermann, the MSNBC host and vituperative Republican critic as the substitute guest for Mr. McCain, he continued to assail Mr. McCain for the decision to cancel the appearance. His critique reached a high point when he learned that at the very moment Mr. McCain was supposed to be on the couch next to him being interviewed, the senator was at the CBS News center three blocks away in Manhattan, getting ready to be interviewed by the CBS News anchor, Katie Couric.

Mr. Letterman ordered his director to put on a live feed from that location, which showed Mr. McCain getting made up to go on with Ms. Couric. “He doesn’t seem to be racing to the airport,” Mr. Letterman observed.

After listening to some questions from Ms. Couric, Mr. Letterman said, “Hey, John, I’ve got a question: You need a lift to the airport?”

CNN Debunks McCain/Palin Lies
by QuestionGirl

CNN does a good job of calling the McCain/Palin campaign on their lies.

From the Jed Report:

As the campaign moves towards a focus on the economy, it’s worth keeping in mind that McCain’s lies are relevant because the demonstrate the fundamental emptiness of his campaign. He is devoid of ideas and solutions; lies are the only thing McCain has left.

We saw that today when Barack Obama gave a thorough speech on his economic vision — and John McCain proposed a 9/11 commission.

So while McCain is busy chasing the economy to the gates of hell, Obama is talking about ways to put things rightside up again.

McCain won’t get us out of the ditch we’re in — Obama will. And that’s what this election will come down to, in the end.

Palin “Brain Fart Disease” Still Viral
by Buck

Just read an opinion piece by The Wall Street Journal’s Bret Stephens. It’s apparent he contacted the brain fart disease in a big way:

If nothing else, the media meltdown over Sarah Palin’s candidacy for the vice presidency has exposed the not-unsuspected truth that, when it comes to historical ignorance and political amnesia, our cultural panjandrums are in a class by themselves.

On the Charlie Gibson - Sarah Palin interview, Mr. Stephens offered this:

Gibson:Do you agree with the Bush doctrine?

Palin:In what respect, Charlie?

Which was a sensible answer, given that no higher authority than Jacob Weisberg of Slate has counted six versions of the thing (including “absence of any functioning doctrine at all”). Further pressed on the subject, Gov. Palin explained that “what President Bush has attempted to do is rid this world of Islamic extremism,” which better sums up the gist of Bush policy than Mr. Gibson’s cramped definition of the doctrine as “anticipatory self-defense.”

Bret goes on to equate Palin’s experience to that of Calvin Coolidge, Teddy Roosevelt and Harry Truman. (I know, Jesus H. Christ!) Then, by rubbing his palms together vigorously, Mr Stephens rolls this tiny ball of snot up tightly like so:

Maybe. But as a man who knows whereof he speaks recently observed, “You can argue that nobody is ready to be president. You can argue that even if you’ve been vice president for eight years, that no one can be fully ready for the pressures of the office.”

Wise words, and historically true. If even Bill Clinton can offer such a benediction to an inexperienced candidate, surely Mrs. Palin’s critics can do so as well.

It should be noted that Wall Street Journalists, (much like Limbaugh, Hannity, O’Reilly and other FOX personalities), aren’t paid for honesty. They’re paid by spinning lies to resemble truths. If it’s wrapped up into neat little packages, below-average intelligence Americans are more likely not only to buy it, but to also pass that info on along to family and friends as truths. Just look back over the last two presidential elections at how well that as worked!

The only panjandrum I see in this room is Bret Stephens.

You Say Potato, I Say Conscienceless Sleazebag
by Batocchio

First, from “moderate” blog Obsidian Wings, here’s Eric Martin:

You know you’re setting a new standard for shameless dishonesty when even Fox News and Karl Rove call you out. Karl Freakin Rove! The man who took the baton from Lee Atwater and [deleted] it up a rat’s [deleted]. I apologize for the vulgar imagery, but John McCain refused to do a series of town hall appearances with me, so I had no choice.

Tucker’s Very Bad Day
by Batocchio

So exactly how many douchebags named “Tucker” does the GOP have, anyway? (DDay has more on this one.) But good grief, is the sky falling? Tucker Bounds is taken to task by Meghan Kelly on friggin’ Fox News, and also by Norah “war protesters are un-American” O’Donnell?!? (C&L has the video; Tucker was saved by “technical difficulties” in that case.)

So far, Tucker Bowen’s responses seem to be, “They lied, too!” and “Obama said ridiculous crap he never actually said but we claim he did!” I suppose it gives some variety to whiny McCain’s “I lied because Obama wouldn’t meet me in town halls” and “I was a POW!” defenses. Oh, and we shouldn’t forget Sarah Palin and her daily lie-and-bullshit count.

I’d still like to see one of these lying scumbags break down in tears on the air under tough questioning, but it’s a start. Sarah Palin is a serial liar. John McCain has run a dishonorable campaign full of lies and smears. McCain’s offering four more years of the same old failed Bush policies. Pass it on – with video proof.

The Real Sarah Palin
by QuestionGirl

Sarah Palin acceptance speech: To the families of special-needs children all across this country, I have a message: For years, you sought to make America a more welcoming place for your sons and daughters.
I pledge to you that if we are elected, you will have a friend and advocate in the White House.

Sarah Palin running while people waited for her at forum.

The Real Sarah Palin:

On October 16, 2006, the gubernatorial campaign landed at a forum held by the ARC of Anchorage. A private, not-for-profit organization dedicated to promoting community integration and quality of life for children and adults who experience developmental disabilities, behavioral health issues, or deafness.

During the forum, the moderator asked if all if the candidates agreed that if they got elected, they would return the following October to give the group an update on what they’ve done for the developmentally disabled. All three candidates including Sarah Palin agreed.

In October of 2007, Anchorage Mayor Mark Begich showed up at the forum but Governor Sarah Palin did not. When someone from the crowd yelled out, “Where’s the governor?”, another attendee answered, “She’s out running.”

Marc Lester of the Anchorage Daily News snapped the above photo of Palin at the Tuesday Night Races, at the same time a room full of people across town wondered why she didn’t show up as promised.

Another Piece to the Book-Banning Story
by Batocchio

The New York Times has a thorough, scathing exposé on Palin (Questiongirl previously linked it). It should be read in its entirety, but here’s the section relevant to the book-banning story we’ve covered in some depth. After describing Palin’s firing of the museum director and attempt to break up the museum staff (make sure to read it), the article states:

Ms. Palin ordered city employees not to talk to the press. And she used city money to buy a white Suburban for the mayor’s use — employees sarcastically called it the mayor-mobile.

The new mayor also tended carefully to her evangelical base. She appointed a pastor to the town planning board. And she began to eye the library. For years, social conservatives had pressed the library director to remove books they considered immoral.

“People would bring books back censored,” recalled former Mayor John Stein, Ms. Palin’s predecessor. “Pages would get marked up or torn out.”
