I was just out on the back patio and saw this little lizard…..guess he’s decided to hunker down early! He found a good spot……unless of course the whole plant stand goes for a ride.

Home again home again jiggity jig.

G won a contest on a local Florida Keys radio station, Sun 103.1. He came the closest to guessing the weight of the winning catch in a fish tournament. They invited him to be on the show and he won a painting by Pasta Pantateo. We had a good time. They broadcast on Thursday nights from a waterside restaurant/bar. Fun, fun, fun……..and the painting is gorgeous.

Now on to the bad part of the vacation. We vacationed with “friends.” These are people G met down in the Keys years ago, and they’ve fished together every year, but never spent anytime with them other than on a fishing pier or on a fishing charter for a day every summer. Well, we stayed in the same house this year. Here’s some of the things I learned from them:

1. The economy is all fucked up because the Democrats raised the minimum wage.
2. There is no such thing as global warming.
3. The only way to solve the high gas prices is to drill off Florida and Alaska.
4. Fuck the birds and the planet, when it’s over it’s over.
5. Every problem we are having right now is the Democrats fault….. and they just blame everything on Bush.
6. Katrina was good…..it wiped out a bunch of niggers.

Needless to say, that was the first time and the last time we will be vacationing with them. They got a good earful…….. but of course it does no good when you’re talking to some of the 20 some % that would vote for Bush if he were able to run again. And this is all Buck’s fault. We invited him and Cleve, but nooooooooooo he couldn’t go. I’ll still send you your coconut though…….because I love ya!!

I got up and watched the sunrise today. It was beautiful. But as the saying goes, “Red sky at night, sailors delight, red sky in morning, sailor’s warning.” Or as Shakes put it, “Like a red morn that ever yet betokened, Wreck to the seaman, tempest to the field, Sorrow to the shepherds, woe unto the birds, Gusts and foul flaws to herdmen and to herds.”

We had a hell of a storm yesterday. It is the rainy season…….. but it’s still beautiful. No major catches yesterday other than a 200 lb. sand shark. (by the by, we do release all fish we aren’t going to eat) I got my Mom in the pool yesterday. That was a major breakthrough. She was a swimmer when she was young. Captain of her dive team. (I guess that’s where I get my fins from) She hasn’t been in the water for years because she doesn’t want anyone to see her wrinkles. I FINALLY convinced her no one cares about her wrinkles. She was sooooooo happy and proud of herself that she went in. It was a good day………. We will see what today brings. Hope you are all having a good week.

Having a wonderful time. It’s rained the past few days, but not enough to put a damper on the fishing and fun. The guy who owns the house two doors down has a tuna tower in his back yard.

The doggies are loving this. My male yorkie LOVES to swim in the ocean. The vet says the salt water is good for him. He had a nice swim today. We’ve caught some sharks ( one 150lb.), some snappers, and a moray eel. Did some kayaking. Hope to go out a couple miles tomorrow and catch some dolphin. (not the Flipper dolphin) A good time is being had by all……

Oh how I pine for Chicago! This is my daughter…..on the right. She is crazy about one of her girlfriend’s kids, Khareem. He is an adorable kid. She spends much of her off time with him. They ride bikes, play ball and go places. Today she picked him up and they hopped on the train to go downtown. They’ve been to the Aquarium, now they are in Grant Park. (oh how I pine for Chicago) She has sent me about 10 pictures…… I’m on the trip with them. ha! He made a new friend in the park. Oh how I wish I were there with them. I LOVE Chicago.

After working on the boat, we went and spent the night at our favorite little motel in the Keys last night. 7 rooms, a shot and beer bar that’s open from 7am to 2am, and an outdoor restaurant on the bay with conch fritters to die for. Gary Dunn, a retired Pittsburg Steeler owns the place. Very nice man. Works for us….. I hope all you Dad’s are having a most enjoyable Father’s Day.

G and I took a ride to Tavernier today to check on the boat. While down there, we heard on the radio about an 850 lb. Mako shark that a guy G knows caught on his charter boat today. They charter out of Bud & Mary’s in Islamorada. The captain’s name is George. Of course, no camera on had, but they’ve already put a picture up on their website. Took them 4 hours to reel him in. We were wishing they had let him go. What a week……..alligators and sharks.

I’m having one of those days……. and not feeling much like posting about politics or war or what they are doing or not doing. So…… another post about nothing to do with politics. Since I told you a story about my daughter earlier……here she is, in the middle. When I got this picture my response was “GIRL, where’s that TURTLENECK I sent you???” I love her to death…….. ain’t she a beauty? (she takes after her Mom)

I took my Mom and brother to Biscayne National Park today. You might have guessed by now that I love pelicans. This guy was eating lunch and we had fun watching him. I videotaped it and if I can figure out how to load it, I’ll post the video.
