Brit Hume: America’s Official LOSER

      Buck     November 19th, 2007 - 11:37 am

FOX “News” “journalist“, Brit Hume, seems to think that Democrats are bringing about the loss of the war in Iraq. Shouldn’t a journalist know better than this? Shouldn’t a journalist be smarter than this? One would think so!

I think Brit does, in fact, know better. This is what makes Brit both a shill and a loser.

Brit Hume
FOX News’ resident shill and loser, Brit Hume

shill
-noun
1. a person who poses as a customer in order to decoy others into participating, as at a gambling house, auction, confidence game, etc.
2. a person who publicizes or praises something or someone for reasons of self-interest, personal profit, or friendship or loyalty.

loser
-noun
1. a person, team, nation, etc., that loses: The visiting team was the loser in the series.
2. Slang. a misfit, esp. someone who has never or seldom been successful at a job, personal relationship, etc.

From Media MATTERS:

Summary: Echoing previous comments by conservative media figures suggesting that Democrats want the United States to lose the war in Iraq, Fox News’ Brit Hume asserted: “The American people don’t like the Iraq war, they probably never will. But they’re not rooting for us to lose; they don’t seem invested in our losing the way the Democrats so often do.” Hume offered no evidence that any Democrats are “invested in our losing” or “rooting for us to lose” in Iraq.

A Recap of the Sliming of Graeme Frost

      Batocchio     October 19th, 2007 - 6:02 am

graeme_frost_1010.jpg

The right-wingers’ attacks on twelve-year old Graeme Frost and his family have been despicable, and a new low even for them (let’s hope it takes them a long time to outdo this one). It’s not as if their poor arguments, distortions, outright lies and personal attacks are anything new, but their true inner ugliness has been on full display, more blatantly than usual. To date, I haven’t seen any conservative say anything like, “We all feel bad for Graeme and Gemma Frost and their entire family, but this law would still be bad because…” Of course, arguing against health care for poor and middle-class children is hard on the merits, and arguing anything on the merits isn’t the conservative style anyway. More pointedly, such a statement would require an expression of compassion, an acknowledgement of humanity, and perhaps some slight recognition that bad things happen to good people, the same thing could happen to any of us or our kids, and we’re all in this together. But all of those are pretty antithetical to conservatism.

While the right-wing machine - and Michelle Malkin especially - have been at their most rabid and contemptible, many of the challenges to them have been superb. Outrage over how the Frosts have been treated doesn’t make up for how they’ve been treated, of course, and sadly, they and other families continue to be targeted by the right-wing. It can’t be easy, especially given everything else they’ve been forced to handle. Perhaps, though, enough exposure and outrage can help pass some good legislation and push these far right extremists a little further to the fringe, where they belong.

In case you missed any of the hubbub, here’s a recap of some of the outpouring. It’s a long post whose main use is to skim over as a resource. Feel free to add any related links in the comments, since of course I missed or skipped many worthy pieces, and unfortunately, the attacks are ongoing.

Ann Coulter’s Remarks on Jews

      Batocchio     October 12th, 2007 - 4:20 am

Not content to advocate for banning women from voting, Ann Coulter’s just said that “We just want Jews to be perfected”… by converting to Christianity.

Oh, but there’s much more. Hey, she’s been a bigot to virtually every other group already! Why not spread the hatred?

(There may be better copies of this interview up later, but this one covers the key lines I’ve heard reported so far. Please note that there are commercials in the middle you can scroll through.)

Every Day Is Falafel Day!

      Buck     July 31st, 2007 - 10:33 am

Opinionated pundit Bill O’Reilly… what a joke. Idiots and morons have to have an idol.

If any woman ever breathed a word I’ll make her pay so dearly that she’ll wish she’d never been born. I’ll rake her through the mud, bring up things in her life and make her so miserable that she’ll be destroyed. And besides, she wouldn’t be able to afford the lawyers I can or endure it financially as long as I can. And nobody would believe her, it’d be her word against mine and who are they going to believe? Me or some unstable woman making outrageous accusations. They’d see her as some psycho, someone unstable. Besides, I’d never make the mistake of picking unstable crazy girls like that.

-Falafel king & FOX network’s finest, Bill O’Reilly
You would basically be in the shower and then I would come in and I’d join you and you would have your back to me and I would take that little loofa thing and kinda’ soap up your back … rub it all over you, get you to relax, hot water …. and um … you know, you’d feel the tension drain out of you and uh you still would be with your back to me then I would kinda’ put my arm — it’s one of those mitts those loofa mitts you know, so I got my hands in it … and I would put it around front, kinda’ rub your tummy a little bit with it, and then with my other hand I would start to massage your boobs, get your nipples really hard … ‘cuz I like that and you have really spectacular boobs….

So anyway I’d be rubbing your big boobs and getting your nipples really hard, kinda’ kissing your neck from behind … and then I would take the other hand with the falafel (sic) thing and I’d put it on your pussy but you’d have to do it really light, just kind of a tease business…

-Falafel king & FOX network’s finest, Bill O’Reilly

These are fun! (Maybe we should do one of these very day?)

Much thanks to Daily Kos & The Smoking Gun!

Pat Robertson; Projecting Again

      Buck     June 13th, 2007 - 10:46 am

Would someone please shut him the hell up already!

BlueHerald ImageROBERTSON: The question would be, ladies and gentlemen, if a million Christians want to go to Saudi Arabia and say, “We want to pray,” you can’t pray in Saudi Arabia. You can’t have religious literature in Saudi Arabia. You can’t get together in Bible study groups in Saudi Arabia. As far as having special places for foot-washing and all that, no way. You will abide by Sharia law because they’re in control.

That’s because, Pat, Saudi Arabia is it’s own sovereign nation. They have their own rules and laws… just as we, here in America, have our very own set of rules and laws. I find it a wee bit HYPOCRITICAL of you, condemning a nation for not being more tolerant of differently held beliefs and notions, while doing your utmost damnedest to convert the US into some goddamned theocracy.

Robertson: “Islam is not a religion. It is a worldwide political movement meant on domination”

On the June 12 edition of the Christian Broadcasting Network’s The 700 Club, following a report on Muslims in Minneapolis seeking religious accommodations at school and work, host Pat Robertson stated, “Ladies and gentlemen, we have to recognize that Islam is not a religion. It is a worldwide political movement meant on domination of the world. And it is meant to subjugate all people under Islamic law.” He characterized the American Muslim community as “Islam light” and went on to say Muslims “want to take over and we want to impose Sharia on you. And before long, ladies are going to be dressed in burqas and whatever garments they would put on them, and next thing you know, men are going to be allowed to have wife-beating and you’ll be beheading adulterers and so on and so forth.”

“Focus on The Family” Leader Says ‘No’ to Rudy

      Jim Swanson     May 17th, 2007 - 10:31 pm

By LIZ SIDOTI, Associated Press Writer

Whatever happened to separation of church and state? Now that Reverend Falwell has passed on, I’m sure both Dobson and Pat Robertson are chomping at the bit to get hold of Falwell’s congregation. Besides, are the G.O.P. candidates really that intent on getting “knighted” by Dobson? Apparently so. - JS

WASHINGTON - A prominent Christian leader said Thursday that “my conscience and my moral convictions” prevent him from voting for Rudy Giuliani should he win the Republican nomination.

In a blistering online column, Focus on the Family founder James Dobson wrote that, should the former New York mayor become the nominee, “I will either cast my ballot for an also-ran - or if worse comes to worst - not vote in a presidential election for the first time in my adult life.”

“Many liberal Americans will agree with the social positions espoused by Giuliani. However, I don’t believe conservative voters whose support he seeks will be impressed,” Dobson said on WorldNetDaily, a conservative news Web site.

A Christian evangelical based in Colorado Springs, Colo., Dobson said he was speaking as a private citizen. However, his words carry considerable weight with the some 7 million listeners of his conservative radio show.

Earlier this year, Dobson said he won’t back John McCain because of the Arizona senator’s opposition to a constitutional amendment banning same’sex marriage. Dobson has given no public indication on how he feels about the other top-tier candidate, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney. The two, however, have met privately.

Dobson called Giuliani an “unapologetic supporter of abortion on demand” and criticized him for signing a bill in 1997 creating domestic-partnership benefits in New York City.

Coulter Saga Continues

      Buck     March 4th, 2007 - 2:46 pm

“C-mon, it was a joke. I would never insult gays by suggesting that they are like John Edwards. That would be mean.” -Coulter

Where she (rarely) lacks in antipathy, she makes up for in witless banter.

From CNN.com:

Coulter under fire for anti-gay slur

Getty ImageWASHINGTON (CNN) — Prominent politicians from both parties and a gay-rights group on Saturday condemned right-wing commentator Ann Coulter for her reference Friday to Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards as a “faggot.”
[...]

Coulter made her comment in Washington during an address to the 34th annual meeting of the Conservative Political Action Conference, during which she gave her opinions about the Democrats’ slate of presidential hopefuls.

“I was going to have a few comments on the other Democratic presidential candidate, John Edwards, but it turns out that you have to go into rehab if you use the word ‘faggot,’ so I’m - so, kind of at an impasse, can’t really talk about Edwards, so I think I’ll just conclude here and take your questions,” said Coulter, whose comment was followed by applause.

CNN has reached out to Coulter’s representative, and received no response.

But the New York Times reported that she responded, in an e-mail, “C’mon, it was a joke. I would never insult gays by suggesting that they are like John Edwards. That would be mean.”

Many from both sides of the aisle denounced Coulter’s remarks.

A spokesman for Sen. John McCain, a Republican presidential candidate, called Coulter’s comments to the conservative group “wildly inappropriate.”

In a written statement, Sen. Edward Kennedy, D-Massachusetts, said, “Ann Coulter’s words of hate have no place in the public sphere much less our political discourse. Not only should she apologize but those who participated in the conference with her should denounce her shameful and divisive actions.”

“Ann Coulter’s use of this anti-gay slur is vile and unacceptable,” said Neil G. Giuliano, president of the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation, “and the applause from her audience is an important reminder that Coulter’s ugly brand of bigotry is at the root of the discriminatory policies being promoted at this gathering.”

In a written statement, Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean called on Republicans to denounce her remarks. “There is no place in political discourse for this kind of hate-filled and bigoted comments,” he said.

And, to add insult to injury, more Coulter bat-guano:

During a question-and-answer session, Coulter referred back to the issue of gays by alluding to the bid for the Republican presidential nomination being made by former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney.

“I do want to point out one thing that has been driving me crazy with the media — how they keep describing Mitt Romney’s position as being pro-gays, and that’s going to upset the right wingers,” she said. “Well, you know, screw you! I’m not anti-gay. We’re against gay marriage. I don’t want gays to be discriminated against.”

She added, “I don’t know why all gays aren’t Republican. I think we have the pro-gay positions, which is anti-crime and for tax cuts. Gays make a lot of money and they’re victims of crime. No, they are! They should be with us.”

A spokesman for Romney called Coulter’s use of the slur “offensive.”

I realize the woman(?) thrives on attention and that we only add fuel to the fire by talking about her. But since the GOP continues to insist on having her speak at their conferences, we must continue to hit home that her bigoted, hate-filled homophobic views apparently represent those of her fellow republicans.

This Is America?

      Buck     March 3rd, 2007 - 11:15 am

America. Bastion of democracy. A beacon if light against hate and intolerance. People came here by the boat-loads to escape… the very thing we’re rapidly becoming.

I could post about how “We the people” really doesn’t apply to everyone. I could post about how Bush & Co., during their short time in power, have managed to whittle away some of our more cherished, fundamental rights. I could even post about our homeless’ day-to-day battle to remain alive. Or about our American troops, maimed from an unjust, immoral war, sleeping in their own urine in one of our sub-quality’sanctioned VA hospitals.

But I won’t. I’ll just toss in the following two articles instead.

From AMERICAblog:

Ann Coulter calls John Edwards a “faggot” at biggest conservative conference of the year

by John Aravosis (DC) · 3/02/2007 04:53:00 PM ET

Every year this conference showcases the worst of the Republican party. Conservatism at its cruelest, most extreme core. And this year was no different. One of the top conservative pundits calls John Edwards a “faggot.” Nice. And these are the people who make up the core base of the Republican party. Mitt Romney praised Coulter only moments before her public slur. Will Romney now retract his praise? Oh that’s right, the very pro gay Mitt Romney is “now” anti-gay. I forgot.

And, from MSNBC.com:

Cherokees may expel slaves- descendants

Tribe poised to revoke membership of thousands of black A-freedmen-

VINITA, Okla. - J.D. Baldridge, 73, has official government documents showing him to be a descendant of a full-blood Cherokee. He has memories of a youth spent among Cherokee neighbors and kin, at tribal stomp dances and hog fries. He holds on to a fair amount of Cherokee vocabulary. ” Salali,” Baldridge says, his face creasing into a smile at the word. “Squirrel stew. Oh, that was good.”

What Baldridge, a retired Oklahoma county sheriff, also has is at least one black ancestor, a former slave of a Cherokee family. That could get Baldridge cast out of the tribe, along with thousands of others.

The 250,000-member Cherokee Nation will vote in a special election today whether to override a 141-year-old treaty and change the tribal constitution to bar “freedmen,” the descendants of former tribal slaves, from being members of the sovereign nation.

Where the hell are we going???
