Video from BloggerInterrupted from the McCain Palin rally in Strongville, Ohio. Maybe people should have to take an intelligence test prior to being allowed to vote. That the McCain campaign is inciting this kind of vile prejudice around the country is so NOT PATRIOTIC!!! It’s scary, and they’re taking us back to a place we don’t want to be. Hard as it is to believe, there’s even evangelicals out there who agree. Thank God for that.
Actually, they never “sunk”. Racism in the south is as strong today as it has ever been. Just a bit better hid. Just below the surface. When these fuckers seceded, Abe should’ve stood idly by and done nothing.
How do you rid the country of racists? Education obviously doesn’t work. Some of the brightest minds are racists. Some say known racists should be given lifetime imprisonment. But isn’t that a huge waste of money? Surely there’s a better answer.
Deputies investigate cross burning in rural SC
CHARLESTON, SC (AP) - Sheriff’s deputies are investigating the burning of two crosses at a rural South Carolina crossroads.
Sheriff’s Maj. John Clark tells The Charleston Post and Courier the crosses were burned last weekend at an intersection in southern Charleston County.
There were no buildings at the crossroads, but a stop sign was riddled with bullets. Clark says officers are investigating the incident as a possible hate crime.
McCain and Obama now appear to be in a dead heat for their race to the White House, thanks mainly to the idiocy of that Hillary Clinton, sore loser crowd.
You have to wonder what it takes to make a person opt for four more shitty years of a Bush WH, rather than vote for the (black) democratic contender.
The first national poll conducted after Barack Obama publicly named Joe Biden as his running mate suggests that the battle for the presidency between the Illinois senator and John McCain is all tied up. [...]
So what’s the difference now? [...]
Sixty-six percent of Clinton supporters — registered Democrats who want Clinton as the nominee — are now backing Obama. That’s down from 75 percent in the end of June. Twenty-seven percent of them now say they’ll support McCain, up from 16 percent in late June.
“The number of Clinton Democrats who say they would vote for McCain has gone up 11 points since June, enough to account for most, although not all, of the support McCain has gained in that time,” Holland said.
I don’t see Hillary Clinton out trying to convince these morons to vote for the good of the country. But I do see her out trying to get other people to pay off her debt.
There will be absolutely zero chance for her in 2000. Racism will not be rewarded.
Gone are the days of beatings, (oftentimes fatal), of those amongst us that don’t quite fit in with the straight, white crowd? I don’t think so…
Town struggles with fallout from immigrant’s fatal beating
SHENANDOAH, Pennsylvania (CNN) — By the time help arrived, Luis Ramirez lay convulsing in the middle of the street, foam running from his mouth.
Blows had struck the 25-year-old illegal Mexican immigrant with such force that they left a clotted, bruised impression of Jesus Christ on the skin of his chest from the religious medal he wore.
His attackers were white teenagers, including star students and football players, witnesses told police.
After a night of drinking, the teens taunted the undocumented worker with racial epithets, pummeled him to the ground and then kicked him in the head, court documents charge. He died in a hospital two days later.
Hate isn’t inborn. It’s taught. Imprisoning those who act out on their hate is only part of the solution. Find the teachers of hate these boys have been subjected to and throw their butts in jail too.
Their defense: “Defense attorneys for two of the teens say Ramirez responded to the name-calling with his own insults, which escalated the confrontation into to a fight that got out of hand.”
So he should have stood there and took these bastard’s abuses like a good little Mexican boy? I’m sure these boy’s privileged, white families will fight this tooth and nail - and most likely will win.
Just once I’d like to see a story where some idiot bigot decided to run his racist mouth and take on three or four muscular Mexicans. Chicken shit racists run in packs, like the dogs they are. But there’s a very special place in hell for the racist, bigoted crowd. And knowing that makes me smile.
Could Harold Ford be any more fucked up in the head?
Per an AMERICAblog.com post, “Harold Ford thinks homophobia is politically expedient.” John Aravosis does a great job of handing Mr. Ford his ass on a platter:
Former Democratic congressman Harold Ford spoke today at the Netroots Nation conference. Ford explained to the audience that sometimes you just have to embrace positions that a lot of Democrats don’t like, in order to win conservative districts. For example, Ford decided to go anti-gay in the last week of his losing Senate race in 2006.
So, here’s my question for Harold Ford. How’s he feel about a Democrat using racism in order to win a race in a conservative district? I’m guessing Ford is against race-baiting in order to win conservative southern voters. But he has no problem with homophobia. Isn’t that interesting. How about bashing Asians (you know, Harold, those folks that John McCain calls “gooks”)? How about bashing women? Or people with disabilities? Would you tell a “polock joke” if you knew it would win you votes, Harold?
We don’t need hate, bigotry or racism in our government, republican or democrat. Vote to keep these POS’s out of Washington and elsewhere.
And it will only get worse.
US politicians find ways to play on racial fears
JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — A Republican congressional candidate in a majority-white Mississippi district runs ads trying to tie his Democratic rival with Barack Obama’s former pastor, seen by some as an anti-white firebrand. Democrats distribute fliers accusing the Republican of wanting a statue to honor the founder of the Ku Klux Klan.
The only black justice on the Wisconsin Supreme Court is defeated after his rival runs an ad with the justice’s picture next to that of a black convict. A watchdog group calls it a “disgraceful attack.”
In South Carolina, a Republican challenger for the U.S. Senate airs an ad with people stepping over wire fencing and protesters holding “Secure Our Borders” signs. It includes a man and woman saying, “Muchas gracias, Lindsey Graham,” the incumbent Republican.
Could Findlay, Ohio be home to the dumbest people on earth?
Racism is bad enough. Being stupid enough to listen to racists and take them at their word is just as bad.
In Flag City USA, False Obama Rumors Are Flying
He believes a smart vote is an American’s greatest responsibility. Which is why his confusion about Barack Obama continues to eat at him.
On the television in his living room, Peterman has watched enough news and campaign advertisements to hear the truth: Sen. Barack Obama, born in Hawaii, is a Christian family man with a track record of public service. But on the Internet, in his grocery store, at his neighbor’s house, at his son’s auto shop, Peterman has also absorbed another version of the Democratic candidate’s background, one that is entirely false: Barack Obama, born in Africa, is a possibly gay Muslim racist who refuses to recite the Pledge of Allegiance.
“It’s like you’re hearing about two different men with nothing in common,” Peterman said. “It makes it impossible to figure out what’s true, or what you can believe.”

The Roswell Georgia Beacon ran this picture on May 15th, candidate Barack Obama in a rifle’s cross hairs.
An influential liberal blog featured a post Tuesday on the provocative cover art, triggering a flood of complaints to the Roswell Beacon, a nascent free weekly distributed to about 65,000 north Fulton residents. The article was published May 15th.
A diarist named “spiralstairs” wrote on Daily Kos, “The article itself is not offensive, but the cover is beyond the pale. As indicated by the article, there are some serious racists in the area, and Obama’s candidacy has brought out the worst in a lot of people. The last thing we need is a newspaper to suggest assassination with an incendiary cover such as this.”
Readers - Kos receives more than 1.3 million visits a day, according to sitemeter.com - were encouraged to contact the newspaper and its advertisers. By day’s end, Holiday Inn announced it would no longer do business with the Beacon, though the paper’s publisher, John Fredericks, said editorial decisions would not be influenced by “liberal blogger thuggery.”
“Good, bad or ugly, we tell the truth,” he said.
Fredericks and senior editor Tim Altork said there was little internal debate over the appropriateness of the imagery, though they were aware it was likely to create a stir.
“We knew we were on the provocative edge,” Altork said. “But it’s a very fair piece, a smart piece.”

I don’t know what Clinton’s intention was when she made reference to Bobby Kennedy’s assassination. She has stated she said it because the Kennedy’s were on her mind, due to Ted’s recent hospitilization and cancer diagnoses. But that’s not true, as she made the same statement prior to Ted Kennedy having the seizure. What I do know is there are alot of nuts out there. There is more racism in the country than we care to admit to….. and we don’t need Clinton’s comments or shit like this. I have to assume Roswell is a bed of racist rednecks who, for the most part, are A-OK with this picture.

Last week, NPR ran a segment I found pretty despicable. It wasn’t the story itself, although the subject matter was appalling; what I found despicable was one of the listener e-mails responding to the story.
Let me back up. NPR had a good story on the racism faced by some young Obama campaign workers. After running audio of some pretty racist white voters, Michele Noris interviewed Kevin Merida about his front page article for The Washington Post on the subject. You can read Merida’s article here and his online discussion on it here. Oh, and John Cole posted some pretty disturbing videos of some racist white voters here, and also explained how party identification in West Virginia can be highly misleading. All of it’s worth checking out, but here’s a sample from Merida’s piece:

Group protests at Cobb bar, calling Obama T’shirts racist
Marietta tavern owner Mike Norman says the T’shirts he’s peddling, featuring cartoon chimp Curious George peeling a banana, with “Obama in ‘08” scrolled underneath, are “cute.” But to a coalition of critics, the shirts are an insulting exploitation of racial stereotypes from generations past.
“It’s time to put an end to this,” said Rich Pellegrino, a Mableton resident and director of the Cobb-Cherokee Immigrant Alliance. He was among about 15 people who protested outside Mulligan’s Bar and Grill Tuesday afternoon against the sale of the “racist and highly offensive” shirts.
“There’s no place for these views, not in this day and age,” he said.
Republicans have such dark hearts. There’s a special hell awaiting them.
