Kentucky Lunacy

      Buck     August 27th, 2008 - 12:41 pm

Can you BELIEVE the friggin’ stupidity that surrounds us? Children starve from hunger every day, and these so-called “christians” are worried about a fucking plaque! I truly believe there’s not one christian bone in their bodies. These people fight so hard to undercut the principles of this great country. I honestly think their main goal is to see the great American project come to an end. They prove it in everything they do.

“When you believe in something you just have to keep fighting…”

Amen! Which is why true Americans, we who stand firm behind the true meaning of the American Constitution, will continue to fight to keep Separation of Church and State alive.

Magistrates vote to continue battle with ACLU

Once again Pulaski County Fiscal Court has voted to continue its battle to display the Ten Commandments.

On Tuesday magistrates unanimously voted to appeal a ruling handed down earlier this month from U.S. District Court Judge Jennifer Coffman which granted the ACLU a permanent injunction on the displays. However she agreed to look at the possibility of summery judgment on behalf of Pulaski and McCreary counties.

The court’s decision came after they went into executive session to discuss the pending litigation for 30 minutes.

After coming out of session Pulaski County Judge-Executive Barty Bullock said no action was taken in the session and then County Attorney Bill Thompson explained that Liberty Counsel was asking for permission to appeal the decision.

“Why put the Ten Commandments up when you don’t intend to go by them,” asked citizen Don Cooper following the court’s decision to appeal.

However, before the court could answer, Thompson advised them not to respond to the question.

This makes the second time in Pulaski County Judge-Executive Barty Bullock’s administration that fiscal court has approved continuing the suit — which began nearly a decade ago under a previous administration.

“When you believe in something you just have to keep fighting … and I believe in this lawsuit,” said Mike Strunk, fifth district magistrate.

Oh and, just so you can see the intelligence involved here, Glenn Maxey, fourth district magistrate, sums up as to why they must continue fighting:

“We’re in to deep to just drop it. If we drop it we owe money and if fight it and win we won’t owe money. And I feel like we can win.”

Maxey feels he can win against the Constitution of the United States? WHERE DO THEY FIND THESE MORONS???

To Maxey, and everyone else in McCreary and Pulaski County, KY pushing for this crap: JESUS CHRIST… GO TO CHURCH ALREADY! THERE’S ONE ON EVERY DAMN CORNER!

A Case Of “Too Little, Too Late?”

      Buck     July 27th, 2008 - 8:57 am

Sounds like it to me!

“All but two of the soldiers are dead. One, Samuel Snow of Leesburg, Florida, planned to attend the ceremony but wound up in the hospital instead because of a problem with his pacemaker.”

It’s really not a question of being black or gay. Seems anyone joining the military are equally liable to be treated sub-humanly. American history is filled with instances where men have been treated similarly… so why do they keep enlisting? And why do we keep putting up with it, and allowing it to happen? “We the people” are supposed to be in charge, right? I am so sick of this shit.

Black soldiers receive apology for wrongful convictions

SEATTLE, Washington (AP) — The Army formally apologized Saturday for the wrongful conviction of 28 black soldiers accused of rioting and lynching an Italian prisoner of war in Seattle, Washington, more than six decades ago.

“We had not done right by these soldiers,” Ronald James, assistant secretary of the Army for manpower and reserve affairs, said Saturday. “The Army is genuinely sorry. I am genuinely sorry.”

Relatives of the soldiers joined elected officials, military officers and one of the defense lawyers to hear James give the apology before hundreds of people in a meadow near the old Fort Lawton parade grounds and chapel in Discovery Park.

In addition, the soldiers’ convictions were set aside, their dishonorable discharges were changed to honorable discharges and they and their survivors were awarded back pay for their time in the brig.

This Mess

I wouldn’t be surprised if half of those complaining voted for Bush, twice, and plan on voting for McCain in November.

Americans’ unhappy birthday: ‘Too much wrong right now’

Even folks in the Optimist Club are having a tough time toeing an upbeat line these days.

Eighteen members of the volunteer organization’s Gilbert, Ariz., chapter have gathered, a few days before this nation’s 232nd birthday, to focus on the positive: Their book drive for schoolchildren and an Independence Day project to place American flags along the streets of one neighborhood. [...]

But then talk turns to the state of the Union, and the Optimists become decidedly bleak.

They use words such as “terrified,” “disgusted” and “scary” to describe what one calls “this mess” we Americans find ourselves in. Then comes the list of problems constituting the mess: a protracted war, $4-a-gallon gas, soaring food prices, uncertainty about jobs, an erratic stock market, a tougher housing market, and so on and so forth.

Hey, Democratic Party Leadership

The graphic is adapted from a cartoon by the brilliant John Sherffius.

The line comes from Mike.

I might get one of these made up.

Update: I might substitute another line (not mine, either): “That’s okay - I wasn’t using my civil rights, anyway.”

Lawmakers Reach Deal To Expand Surveillance

WASHINGTON — After more than a year of partisan acrimony over government surveillance powers, Democratic and Republican leaders have agreed to a bipartisan deal that would be the most sweeping rewrite of spy powers in three decades. The House is likely to vote on the measure Friday, House aides said.

Removing the final barrier to action on the measure, which has been hashed out in recent weeks by senior lawmakers in both parties, House Democratic leaders decided to allow a vote on the bill, despite the opposition of many in their party.

The new agreement broadens the authority to spy on people in the U.S. and provides conditional legal immunity to companies that helped the government eavesdrop after the 2001 terrorist attacks, according to congressional aides in both parties.

UPDATE, (via Think Progress) : Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s office released this statement: “Senator Reid believes this version is better than the bill the Senate passed in February and much better than the Protect America Act signed by the President last summer, but he remains opposed to retroactive immunity and is reviewing the bill in its entirety.”

Sickening

“We are disturbed and saddened by the reports we have heard and we are praying for the Barron family.”

That’s great and all… but, is anyone praying for all those 13-year-olds this perv has come into contact with?

Texas minister charged in online sex sting

BlueHerald ImageBRYAN, Texas (AP) – A minister from a Dallas-area Baptist megachurch was caught in an Internet sex sting and charged with online solicitation of a minor, police said Friday.

Undercover officers posing as a 13-year-old girl communicated with Joe Barron, 52, of Plano for about two weeks. The online conversations were sexual in nature, police said.

On May 6, Barron suggested meeting the girl in person. He eventually made the nearly 200-mile drive to Bryan, Texas, on Thursday, when he was arrested. Police said they found a Web-cam and condoms in his car.

A Hot, Steamy Pile By Any Other Name…

      Buck     May 14th, 2008 - 11:11 pm

I can’t begin to tell you how mad this makes me. Before Blue Herald, I rarely followed politics. It was all just a blur to me as I would walk on by a television tuned to the evening news.

You’ve probably heard that if Bush were to “off” an infant on-air, barely a gasp would be uttered. Let Obama go a day without a flag lapel pin and watch the MSM and half the country go ape’shit. It all just serves to push me back away from politics.

My fellow democrats, I implore you, if you’re thinking of running for office, and there’s a small chance you may use that office for some crooked adventures or personal gain, or whatever, then please don’t run. Stay home and let someone who does give a damn be elected, k? It would be a much greater country if you did!

Scandal-plagued Ohio attorney general resigns

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Ohio’s attorney general resigned Wednesday under threat of impeachment because of a sexual harassment investigation in his office and his extramarital affair.

Attorney General Marc Dann, a Democrat elected in 2006 on an anti-corruption platform, said at a news conference that he had to resign to preserve the ability of the office to carry out the priorities he established. [...]

He admitted May 2 to an extramarital affair with an employee that he said contributed to an atmosphere leading to sexual harassment claims against a top aide. [...]

Strickland and Dann were among many Ohio Democrats swept into office after an investment scandal that involved a GOP donor and went as high as former Gov. Bob Taft, a Republican.

Where Does Bush Send Our Fallen Soldiers? A Pet Crematory

      QuestionGirl     May 9th, 2008 - 9:02 pm

The uncaring, callous attitude of this administration is unfuckingbelievable. Just when I think Ive heard the worst thing I could possibly hear, they do something even more unfuckingbelievable. At least a soldier at the Pentagon had the good sense to inform them of this. But WTF….. why wouldn’t they know this. I think they DID know it and it was ok until this guy brought it up.

The U.S. military will no longer cremate troops returning from Iraq and Afghanistan at a Dover facility that also cremates pets, the Pentagon announced Friday evening at a hastily planned new conference.

Geoff Morrell, a Pentagon spokesman, said there was “no evidence whatsoever that any human remains were mistreated” or that any troops were cremated at the facility designated for pets.

Instead, Secretary of Defense Robert Gates made the decision Friday after a soldier who works at the Pentagon informed the department that a crematory contracted by the department also incinerated animals.

Morrell called the practice “insensitive and entirely inappropriate for the dignified treatment of our fallen.”

Iran War Plan

      QuestionGirl     April 30th, 2008 - 12:55 pm

These assholes aren’t going to be happy until they strike Iran. Nevermind that it will be the end of life as we know it. You think gas prices are high now? You think food prices are high now? You think our infastructure is fucked up? You think healthcare, medicare, medicaid and any social programs are bad? You think the economy is in the shitter? George Popeil Bush says……BUT WAIT! We’ll fuck it up beyond belief!

A second American aircraft carrier steamed into the Persian Gulf on Tuesday as the Pentagon ordered military commanders to develop new options for attacking Iran. CBS News national security correspondent David Martin reports that the planning is being driven by what one officer called the “increasingly hostile role” Iran is playing in Iraq - smuggling weapons into Iraq for use against American troops.

“What the Iranians are doing is killing American servicemen and -women inside Iraq,” said Secretary of Defense Robert Gates.

U.S. officials are also concerned by Iranian harassment of U.S. ships in the Persian Gulf as well as Iran’s still growing nuclear program. New pictures of Iran’s uranium enrichment plant show the country’s defense minister in the background, as if deliberately mocking a recent finding by U.S. intelligence that Iran had ceased work on a nuclear weapon.

Iraq Reconstruction: Throwing Good Money After Bad!

      QuestionGirl     April 27th, 2008 - 7:45 pm

The thing about this is, NOW congress people are saying Iraq is not doing enough and have to contribute more to reconstruction. Yah…..it’s the Iraqi’s fault you dumb fucks voted to let Bush TOTALLY DESTROY their country. It’s the Iraqi’s fault that the U.S. hired contractors who did a shitty fucking job. Now it’s THE IRAQI’S FAULT that the reconstruction has failed. Yah, ok. Whatever.

Millions of dollars of lucrative Iraq reconstruction contracts were never finished because of excessive delays, poor performance or other factors, including failed projects that are being falsely described by the U.S. government as complete, federal investigators say.

The audit released Sunday by Stuart Bowen Jr., the special inspector general for Iraq reconstruction, provides the latest snapshot of an uneven reconstruction effort that has cost U.S. taxpayers more than $100 billion. It also comes as several lawmakers have said they want the Iraqis to pick up more of the cost of reconstruction.

The special IG’s review of 47,321 reconstruction projects worth billions of dollars found that at least 855 contracts were terminated by U.S. officials before their completion, primarily because of unforeseen factors such as violence and excessive costs. About 112 of those agreements were ended specifically because of the contractors’ actual or anticipated poor performance.
